Jeth 0 #1 June 27, 2005 Ok, so I know I owe a lot of beer. At my dz, when jumping is over, ppl go to the skybar or tiki hut to kick a few back. So where do I bring my cases? I can't bring it in the bar, right? So should I just crack it open in the hangar? (I've never seen that going on before) I'm just looking for some guidance on how a rookie properly repays a beer debt. "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! CanuckInUSA 0 #3 June 27, 2005 Yes don't get too hung up on your beer debts. I owe way more than I've paid (shit now I know someone is going to see this). I'm a little surprised that nobody brings cases of beer to your DZ, but I guess all DZs are different. If you guys don't bring beer into the hanger, go to the bar with the most influential people who were involved with your "First ..." jump and just buy them a beer. You don't owe everyone on the DZ beer. Just the people who were there to help you with your Milestone moment. That is a whole other topic. Im not sure how that applys for the tiki hut. It used to be that people would bring the beer to the bonfire, but no one seems to fire that puppy up anymore as everyone is at the tiki hut. Once jumping is done, yes I have seen that happen quite often and hadnt seen that frowned upon. That may have changed however. You can ask Genie how she feels about beer at the tiki hut. Course you could bring it to the deck on the pond "by" the tiki hut, then spread the word that works too..or the Pavilion too.She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

tigra 0 #9 June 27, 2005 Actually, I don't think they would mind if you had a case over at the Tiki. Lots of us even bring our own to the skybar. (usually not by the case, but one at a time) There's also the pavillion, bonfire, or the other bonfire by Frankie's bus- across from the pavillion. OR at the end of the day (like after last load takes off, but there's still people around packing and stuff) you can bring a cooler into the hangar. Anyway, aside from the fact that skydivers love free beer, the IDEA behind it is that you share the beer with other skydivers and they share their "wisdom", experiences, stories, friendship, etc. with you. Bill Von actually wrote up something really nice about the Beer Rules if I'm not mistaken, and I bet if you ask him nicely, he'll post it again. Of course, if MANIFEST busts you for landing on the taxiway, the beer goes to them.
craichead 0 #10 June 27, 2005 I think you should bring your cases to Hinckley. tigra 0 #12 June 27, 2005 People do bring cases to SDC. But we've also got two bars, a huge campground and several different "party" areas within the campground. Since so many of the experienced jumpers have trailers, we tend to head to the campground after jumping.

tigra 0 #16 June 27, 2005 As far as I know, beer is OK in the hangar after the last load has taken off. No one will say anything about drinking your own beer at the Tiki or in the Skybar but common sense says they might have a problem bringing a whole case up. BUT- if you ask first and let Genie or the bartender know you brought up a case to pay your "beer debt" (as a one time thing) I seriously doubt they would have a problem with it. A case won't last that long anyway, and when the "free" beer runs out, the bar will have plenty for sale. Problem solved!
AggieDave 6 #17 June 27, 2005 Remember, a lot of times you can substitute a good bottle of whiskey instead of a case of beer. Ask your DZO, but most likely its cool to bring it to the DZ hanger and pop one open after the last load has taken off.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." johnnyboydan 0 #21 June 27, 2005 One way to do it is just go up to the bar and buy a case through the bar. Then yell out this case is on me. You can include a few first in a case, I usally yell out why especially if I screwed something up and it's funny. If someone is not there to share or misses out after it's all gone,,,,, oh well not your problem.johnnyboy

sunshine 2 #24 June 27, 2005 Sweetie, there are always so many mini gatherings going on in the campground, you can easily find a place to bring beer. Or do what AJ does and buy a cooler full of water and gatorade for jumpers to drink during the daytime. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
