Vacations in December?

Recommended Posts

If you could go anywhere in the world that you wanted in Dec where would it be? I'll probably spend a week or so in Early Dec somewhere nice. Places that have crossed my mind.........Rio, South Africa (LONG TRIP though), Carribean, Thailand (Another LONG trip.), Cartegena, Colombia. Any other suggestions?

But if the budget were unlimited I'd head to New Zealand.

Budget isn't really unlimited BUT..........my company gives me a $2500 round trip budget to go home from this shit hole. So..........if I keep the tickets on the cheap I can go somewhere cool for either free or for just a bit extra. Going to Prague for a week in August and the airfare is free! B| Figure I might as well enjoy myself while I have this opportunity!

Oh yeah............it's great. I was walking TO EAT DINNER of all things 2 days ago. Look down at the gutter and I'm not kidding there was toilet paper and A TURD laying there. Apparently, some of the houses "sewer systems" just dump into the gutter. :S OMG I want to go back to Baghdad! [:/]

Being some place tropical or exotic in December sounds nice, doesn't it?

Yep............and after being acclimated to Iraq I can't go anywhere COLD. I'm going to be wearing my full snow suit just to put up with Georgia. :D My stay there will be SHORT I am sure. I'll be hanging at Z Hills to keep things tolerable. B|

I will most likely be in South America for the holidays myself this December.

So many cool places to go. It's hard to choose but I guess I'll just have to start somewhere.

Only problem with Australia or NZ is the flight time. Total trip time from here is 27 hours. :S I can go to Thailand for less than half the price and A LOT less time in the air. Rio and several nice places in South and Central America are very short flights from the US. B|

Anywhere in the world ? Hmmm.

I had a great couple of weeks in France over Christmas and New Year's a few years ago.

Paris was cold, but it was beautiful. I took the train up to Normandy to see some of the D-Day invasion sites. That was great to see, if kind of sobering.

There were not too many tourists around at that time of year. Most of the other tourists I encountered were Europeans. It was easy to get into museums and historic buildings -- no lines.

The food! Oh the food is incredible there!

I'd recommend it, if that sort of place appeals to ya.

I have to agree with some of the other responses... I've been to Australia and Barbados, both amazingly beautiful and fun places. Seeing as how it will be December, something in the Southern Hemisphere (or at least in the tropics) will probably be best for you. If you go to Australia, you could sail around the Whitsunday Islands (it's like the Carribean of Australia, only way way more islands, and prettier). They've got plenty of resorts that take up entire islands. Very very relaxing.

I personally want to go to Brazil for my next trip. A buddy of mine runs a tourist agnecy in Rio so that just may be the ticket I'm looking for. Mmm mmm mmm... there's just something about them South American women:)
