skybytch 273 #26 June 30, 2005 Quote I was just disappointed that more of my friends were going to be joining me. No worries. There'll be plenty of people there waiting to become your new friends. I won't be there for the whole 10 days like I have been the past three years; should be arriving on Tuesday or Wednesday. I had to give up something to be able to go to LP for my beer time so I gave up the first weekend of Rantoul. I'm not too upset; the best party is always the last Saturday night/Sunday morning anyway.
sunshine 2 #27 June 30, 2005 Quote I will definitely be there. I was just disappointed that more of my friends were going to be joining me. I had a Fantastic time last year and can’t wait to go back. I'll be there and even par-tay with you this time. Prolly won't stick around all 10 days this time cause my new work schedule wont' allow it. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! popsjumper 2 #28 July 1, 2005 Quote ....To be honest, the best boogie out there riht now is Dublin. We'll see if skyfest overtakes that one...lol Just now recovering from Dublin and all pumped for Skyfest..... Mirage63 0 #29 July 1, 2005 I went for four years in a row, had a blast but when I started there were a lot less turbin aircraft to jump (my dz was a 182 at the time) Don if he is interested needs to re market the boogie, come up with some different planes, bands (although I like the old bands) It easy to say re market the boogie but it's hard to come up with how to change it. Having said that, one day if it's still going I'll be back.

Viking 0 #31 July 1, 2005 Last year sucked ass man. There were only 1500ish people there and no special planes. I'm not saying i didn't have fun but it just wasn't what i had been told it would be. And my g/f lives in quincy and has been around the convention for a loooong time. I'm not going this year b/c of the so-so experience from last year and the fact it would just cost way to much to get there and then pay $70 and then pay for jump tickets, food and a place to sleep. no thanx i'll stay here and jump.I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
Kris 0 #32 July 1, 2005 I thought last year rocked. While the fun rides are a treat, I personally go for the "family reunion" aspect of it. This is one of the few chances where I get to see so many of my friends in one spot.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
Viking 0 #33 July 1, 2005 While i loved meeting all you guys and hanging out and standing behind a bar and servering you beer() I think without specialty aircraft its nothing special. I can jump a skyvan, chopper, ballon, otter at perris. The b17 was only there for a day and was way to expensive. They didn't have a jet, c130, or the kickass chopper i had seen so many videos of and hear so much about. If the convention is to stay alive they need planes that most people can't jump near there home dz's and don't even get me fucking started on the stupid shitty weather.I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
freeflir29 0 #34 July 1, 2005 Went in 2002 and 2004. I'll be in the states this year but just won't have the time to make it. I have had a great time the 2 years I have been. I do see a bit of a problem with the specialty aircraft. That was THE draw for a lot of people. Not for me personally. I have jumped LOTS of aircraft and I really don't care what I get out of so much as WHO I exit with. Just let it be fast and don't make me wait forever on a load. I rarely wait more than a few minutes there and more often than not I wait on purpose because the loaders are trying to get me on a 1 minute call. It's a great place with great rides and great people. I'll be coming back when I get the chance.

That was the worst Aug weather I have ever seen in this area. Nothing else ever comes close. Aug also isn't that much of a rain month either - most of the summer isn't. We just got our first rel rain in close to 30 days last night._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... bch7773 0 #37 July 1, 2005 i was there last year and loved the RW load organizers, and the fact they had so many planes that you never had to wait more then a 5 min call. also I loved how many CASAs they had. i liked the free beer. oh and I LOVED the wet t-shirt contest. hehehe what i didn't like: huge registration fee. no real specialty aircraft. no running water. no way to wash hands after using porto-potties. and I had no problem with the large amounts of people under canopy. Just fly the pattern and you do fine. MB 3528, RB 1182

skydiver51 0 #41 July 1, 2005 Not everyone has those aircraft to jump every weekend. ALOT of jumpers across the country only have cessna 182s or 206s so a sky van or otter or cassa are specialty aircraft. If I jumped at one of the BIG dzs I would probably feel the same way. jumpergirl 0 #50 July 1, 2005 Quote Quote its ALL about money Okay, so the people that put WFFC together, shouldn't make any money? Of course they should make money. That's the idea of a lot of events (skydiving or not) right? But his refernce to SkyFest is (I believe - Bob please correct me if I'm wrong about your meaning) that SkyFest makes very little money then turns around and GIVE IT BACK to the skydivers in the form of the scholarships. Nothing goes into pockets. It's all about fun, safety, and paying it skyward. THIS explains it best, and what SkyFest is all about.
