Legal Question

Recommended Posts

It can be in Washington. A coworker did that years ago. I think the kid has to be emancipated.

I probably wouldn't get too much legal advice from skydivers ('cept Lawrocket)

Like Bill Booth says "The people at the dropzone are not lawyers, and can not give you legal advice.":D

She is not emancipated...that would make sense to me. She is just a 16 year old living in an apartment that Mommy rented so she does not have to change schools. I worry about her safety for the next two years of high school.
yes, Missouri.

as far as I know she is alone....she is actually paying the rent herself (step-dad got her a job leasing apartments....)

does her stepdad manage the apartments or own them? i asking cause if the apartments she lives in are managed by him then i would assume that he would be close by at any point in time which may have effect if its ok for her to live alone. Just my .02 no legal degree here. :P

wow, thats trusting parental units... i know I wouldnt have been able to do that at 16. :D If i was a 16 yr. old girl living in an apartment all by myself id be nervous at night. I hope she has something for protection if someone tries to get in. and 911 on speed dial. of course all as a precautionary measure. plenty of good stout mase. the institutional size can. ;)

Is it legal for a 16 year old to live by herself? I know a child who got an apartment. Her mom signed the lease, so I am not sure that the complex knows that she is living there alone. Do parents have a legal responsibility here?

Seriously. Call your local District Attorney's office and ask them. Be sure, you have all the facts together. They, will be glad to answer your question.
