Is it cool for a girl to propose to her SO

Recommended Posts

I have a friend that was thinking about proposing to her boyfriend and was asking me what I thought about it. I told her I think its great, but I was just wondering what everyone else thought about it.

I voted yes. If you're the SO and you're not keen, you can always decline. That way one party in the relationship doesn't have to wait in hope for something that may never happen.

Tradition, of course, allows women to propose in a leap year.

I've been proposed to twice. Once by a girl who I never expressed any interest in, and more recently by a girl who always knows exactly what to say, i.e. in the middle of a converstaion about mail order brides, "Dan you should marry me you idiot!!"

I did propose to my ex husband. Note the 'ex' in front of husband.

I think guys tend to be more commitment phobic, so it's better to let them come to you and not scare the shit out of them by proposing to them. But every couple is different, she should do what sits right with her, it doesn't matter what any of us think.:P

I think it's a great idea! I mean if you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, how much time are you willing to spend just waiting around for them to ask you? lol. Communication people! We have to let eachother know what's on our minds, these days more then ever.

I hope it goes well for your friend :)

There's not anything wrong with it, but like in most situations, I think a girl wants her man to act like a man and do the asking.

Heehee...except society is making it ok for men not to be men anymore ;) The feminization of man has begun :|

Then again the masculinization of women started long ago ;)

I have been accused of being to brash, to honest, to blunt, to forward, to strong, even once to weak cause I actually needed help, and asked for it.

In reality it is really going to be dependant on the people involved.

Oh and to add...I like strong men, who are not chicken ;)

Admit it, you loved being called all those things... perhaps not the weak one though.

but the real question is who proposes to who in a lesbian couple?

:D:D:D

Is it just "decided" in that case?? I have no idea but that's a good question... but make it a little more general... Who proposes in a gay relationship? How is that decided? Hmmm.... food for thought!
