WatchYourStep 0 #4 July 8, 2005 That sounds fun even though I don't know a darn thing about magnetic base drills and what not. Although I do know I love tapping holes too. (Insert devil smiley here, i don't know how.) It's Friday and my mind is in the gutter, sorry. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. Dumpster 0 #13 July 8, 2005 Mag drills are so handy - Like a portable drill press. So far it's taken me an hour to begin establishing new centerlines for the bolt holes - Shit's gotta be dead-nuts-on. The motor is due here this morning. It *only* weighs about 500 punds more than the motor that came off. I hope our forklift is big enough to swing it - mmm - hole tapping - Fun at home or in the shop! Spizzzarko 0 #14 July 8, 2005 I run video teleconference's for the Air Force. It consists of me sitting in front of two computers. One computer will have DZ.com on it, and the other one has some power point presentation on it. I sit and listen for the magic words "Next Slide", and then I push the down arrow button. Sometimes I answer the phone and type a few things into the computer, but most of the time I just sit here. I need a new job.

BGill 0 #18 July 8, 2005 Quote Every day when I get home, I think to myself "another 8 hours of my life that I will never get back". yeah, the only saving grace is the bigger paycheck that i get in comparison to my old job interacting with people and managing a Smoothie King. Dumpster 0 #20 July 8, 2005 That sounds like TOO much fun! I run the maintenance department for a plastics compounding company - As long as all the machines are running well, (which they usually are, or I wouldn't have gotten a fat raise this spring-) it's like Shop class - I get to build things, design stuff with our R&D department, all kinds of neat shit. I'm an electrician/mechanic/welder/pipfitter/fabricator/supervisor/etc.etc - - - Of course, I always keep an eye open for new job opportunities. This work is beginning to take it's toll on my body, I'd like to find something that pays as well or better but not as physically demanding. Just don't know what to persue, though. I've pretty much hit the ceiling here at this place. OK - Time to get back at it, break time is over! Easy Does It

If you truely love your job (as your subject line so vigorously proclaims), and you are earning a decent salary that allows to you pay the bills and support your extracirricular activities, then leaving would be silly. I know many folks that left a job they liked for another that paid better, and almost all of them ended up regretting it.__ My mighty steed
Dumpster 0 #24 July 8, 2005 I can't complain at all - Of course there are days full of B.S. but just about any place has that to some degree. I'm in no rush to change jobs at all. But if I were to come across an opportunity to do something groovy in the same general field, with higher wages, and more attractive conditions and benefits, etc. why wouldn't I look into it? ChrisL 2 #25 July 8, 2005 Well in that case you would be silly to ignore an opportunity :-) Just pointing out that in a lot of cases, being happy with your job is worth a lot of money. If its the same kinda work with just as much job satisfaction, and the money is better, then by all means take that job __ My mighty steed
