40 miles per hour

Recommended Posts

I had my pre-second experience with high winds on Monday. Took off, winds were at the high end of my jumpable range, 17mph gusting to low 20s.... By the time I landed, it was 23mph gusting to 32 or something like that, and I was on a 7-cell F111 canopy loaded at .8 :P I stood up the landing and started to pull in the canopy, and a huge gust came up and said "No, it's time for you to lay down and slide a little ways" :D

That should get us some extra distance for the tracking contest.

Edit: The winds are down a little. 25 to 32.

Hey Grue.... once your feet are on the ground and your not suspended by the canopy anymore, turn around and run after the parachute.:D. You can also just walk toward it quickly. The parachute will blow back but the pilot chute and bridle will stay put. Step on the bridle then casually gather your stuff and watch the others slide on their side.

I just called. 25 gusting to 30 again.

Sigh. It's just that time of year I guess.

In Florida, it's that time of year again also.

My lawn furniture is doing 25 to 30 mph.

A small tornado just took a piece of the roof off of a daycare center in St. Pete where my best friends daughter attends.

They were jumping before I got there, and I think they went on a wind hold around 4 when I left.

The official contest was put off till august. 6 of us went ahead and competed anyway in shorts and t-shirts. We each put 10 bucks into the pot for prize money.

Good Times.

I don't think many would be able to run around a canopy that is getting pushed by 25 mph winds.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

It's 18 to 23 right now so it's coming down. They're jumping and a tracking contest happens at 2:00 so it's time to head on out.

You fucked up, G-man.

My K1200RS was uncrated and I was the only one to drive it until today. I let deBar and VanderScooter ride it cause you weren't there.

Teach me to drive the knucklehead, and you will be able to break the sound barier with my rocket any time you like.

Us conspirators to felonies got to stick together.

My neigbors are even more wary of me for some reason now.

As for the Knucklehead, I've started riding it. Talk about total concentration on the thing. Everything's in the wrong place, but once you get going, it's a blast. Once I get it tagged correctly by the CHP, which in itself takes forever, I'll ride it to Byron. I don't want to take in on a freeway uintil it;s got enough miles under it's belt to bed in nicely. That's what town driving and lots of gear changes are for.
