Shit, first Beth, now you bust out the sit on your first try! You kids got some mad skillz! That sit looks better than mine... :|

AFP is different from AFF and is what/how they teach at SDC. One jump is a intro to sitflying. Some people get it (kinda) others just have a hard time. students are usually back on their belly within the first 3k feet... maybe less

Where is my fizzy-lifting drink?

Woo-hoo!! Me and Mike ROCK!! B| Don't worry, Doug, if you keep practicing one day you can be as cool as us. :P

(Of course, mine was a total one-time fluke. ;))

Way to go, Mike! Wasn't that fun! :)
Yep, just like when I posted about mine, I had people asking why I was doing a sit. Its part of AFP, people! You do a sit-fly exit, try to hold the sit for a few seconds, then you go onto your belly to do some back flips. Note to anyone else in AFP who might post about theirs -- be sure to put in there that it was an AFP jump! ;)

Doug will have plenty of time to work on his sit in the tunnel this August... and I'll have plenty of time to work on not sucking at everything else :P

It was an awesome feeling though... and knowing I could easily get stable after being pretty unstable in a sit fly position was educational and confidence inspiring :)

Just to add to this- its a later AFP level and the main goal of the level is not to teach sit flying but recovery from unstable positions. The sitflying is just an added bonus. (Back when I did AFP, it was level 11 and they just had us exit in sort of a cannonball and try to do a 360 on our backs, no actual sitflying involved. Then a couple of backloops and some dockign practice. I've got fond memories of the jump because it was the only student jump I did with Roger and it was pretty much my "breakthrough" dive. Not that the dive went perfect because it didn't, but I realized the dive didn't NEED to be perfect and I was much more relaxed for my remaining student jumps!:)

THAT is awesome! What a concept! Yeah, when I was a student (static line progression:P) we just had 'unstable' maneuvers to 'stability'. That is GREAT that they are making an 'unstable' move into something you may use later! :)

Wow, me too!! Realizing I could go unstable and get back to my belly okay was such a breakthrough for me, too. Not to mention starting with this jump was when all the "fun stuff" started (flips, rolls, tracks). I was so much more relaxed for these jumps I was just cranking them out! B|
