I hope you got the guy's name. When you find the car you want, be sure and email the sales manager (bos of the dick) and let him know about his loss of your sale. You'd be surprised the offers that come out of the woodwork after that.... ;)

Test drove the value edition - didn't like the clutch one bit but its cause I'm used to the clutch on a car with 100,000 miles :D Overall, not entirely impressed. [:/]

Our sales guy was a dick so I didn't get to try the TDI, but I'll be going to another dealer anyway and test drive it there.

I agree the VW clutch is bit funny feel to it It has a soft pedal feel to it took me awhile to get used to it too.

I had a TDI Golf and my record on one tank of gas was 810 miles. Since diesel is like soda when you fill up, if you take the 10-15 mintues extra to let it "defoam" then fill up more, repeat a few times you get the tank a little fuller. On average I had around 750 miles to a tank and that ended up being a trip to the gas station about once every 3 weeks (even with trips 60 miles one way to the DZ almost every weekend).... I miss my TDI... [:/]
Plus the cool thing was I was driving past all the lines at the gas stations when we were having shortages here.. ;)

take the time to appreciate the people around you.
