crotalus01 0 #26 July 16, 2005 about 8 feet, was loading an airplane and the ramp evacuation lightning siren went off. we got inside, waited it out. the sirens were turned off so we went to resume the load. two friends of mine were closing the fore and aft belly doors on a dc-10 and i was waiting on the ground to marshall them out when lightning struck the plane. arced through both of them (they were in contact with the aircraft at the time). scared the living shit out of me, knocked one of them out, both went to the hospital but were okay. one had heart palpitations for a couple of hours... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

psipike02 0 #29 July 18, 2005 2 years ago when I worked at Cedar Point in Ohio. It was a really bad storm and my coaster that I worked on was shut down obviously. Then the people on the platform screamed and we all jumped and when we heard this loud crack and huge flash. It had struck the pavement right outside of our ride queue line. Scared the shit out of me and there was a huge burn mark....luckily it didn't hit anyone....Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
outlawhottie 0 #30 July 18, 2005 don't know how close I was, but on my last deployment we had a storm blowing in over us. lightning was within about 1 mile by the time someone decided to say "close the flightline." it was a beautiful storm. i was just waiting for lightning to strike one of us or one the planes. DJL 235 #31 July 18, 2005 Less than 10 feet, directly overhead. I was in a park shelter with a metal roof sitting on wooden benches. The shelter was on top of a hill and was struck repeatedly, probably 5-8 times. It made the lights glow on for a few seconds every time it hit."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Snowwhite 0 #33 July 19, 2005 I was sitting in my van in my driveway. Bolt overhead zaps right into my house, hit the electrical light switch and burned up the top 1/3 of my building. Huge ass fire. Whole town came out to help me empty out my blazing music shop. Great place to live!skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
