ssesse01 0 #1 October 7, 2008 I am a new skydiver with only 26 jumps. I have been flying a silhouette 190 and just started jumping a sabre1 170. I am looking at buying a Sabre2 135. Would this be a good canopy for me? I weigh only 107 and I am very respectful to the canopies and not one to take risks with them, but do enjoy them. It is a great deal and in great shape. Can I get some opinions from people that have used a Sabre2 135? I am not sure I want to pass up this deal if I can handle it, but I do want to stay safe. dragon2 2 #2 October 7, 2008 Anything smaller than a 150 is considered a high-performance canopy. Are you ready for a hp canopy? Think it is smart to downsize so fast? Where you are you may be allowed to jump it depending on your instructors. You should really ask THEM. Where I am, you would not be allowed to jump a 135 until you had 400 jumps and a sabre2 (of any size) until you had 100 jumps. Here, you'd stay on the sabre 1 170 until 100 jumps then likely buy a sabre 2 150, or another 150 as you hit the 100 jump mark. Good deals are usually not, if they're not right for you and this one sounds too small too soon to me. Why not jump the 170 for a while then try out a 150 and stick with one of those 2. What's the rush? ciel bleu, Saskia
councilman24 37 #3 October 7, 2008 Buy it if you want to put it in the closet for 300 jumps. or more. A 135, IMHO, is too small for any new jumper no matter how light. Wing loading does not scale to smaller sizes. A 135 at 1:1 is much 'higher performance', twitchier, more sensitive to input (pick your description) than a 170 at 1:1. Read the articles on Performance Designs website. There will be other 135's. This is too small for anybodies first canopy.I'm old for my age. Chubba 0 #4 October 7, 2008 The Sabre2 will fly different to the Sabre1, they felt worlds apart for me, the names are confusing. I ended up with a Sabre2 170 loaded at 1:1 and I'm completely satisfied. Try out a Sabre2 in the 170/150 range before you go buying the 135 if all you're basing it on is the jumps on Sabre1... I think you will be suprised, the Sabre2 was sooo much more fun to fly (and land especially).

riggerrob 643 #6 October 8, 2008 Good deals are only good deals if they keep you out of the hospital. Even if they keep wing-loadings light, few chicks jump tiny canopies. That just means that most chicks are brighter than young guys. Canopies smaller than 150 do not scale exactly because their shorter lines make them twitchier.
