shakeybritches 0 #1 October 7, 2008 I am having some difficulty in finding rigging schools. Can anyone let me know where I might find a list of certified schools? Much appreciated.

riggerrob 643 #3 October 7, 2008 First of all, I do not know of any gov't that "certifies" rigging schools. In the USA, you do not need to attend formal classes, you just need a letter of recommendation - from an FAA-licensed rigger to challenge the tests. FAA tests include written (e.g. at a Sylvan Learning Center), oral (FAA Parachute Rigger Examiner) and practical (DPRE). Various American Master Riggers (Tom Dolphin, Dave DeWolf, etc.) teach courses once or twice per year. The last day of the course usually includes packing tests administered by an FAA DPRE. Try looking in the back of Parachutist Magazine for course schedules. The only full-time rigging school in the USA is the American Academy of Parachute Rigging in Eloy, Arizona. Call Rigging Innovations for course schedules. They are in the same building at Eloy Airport. In Canada, you need to attend a formal series of lectures (given by a Rigger Instructor), during a course registered with CSPA and pass the tests. Sure would help if you completed your profile so we could know which country you live in, allowing us to recommend a nearby rigging school. Hit: I am teaching a Canadian Rigger A Course, the first week of November in Campbell River, BC. I can also write letters of recommendation to the FAA. Visit the Australian Parachute Federation's website to learn the finer points of learning rigging in Australia. Peruse the British Parachute Federation's website to learn the finer pints of learning rigging in the UK, etc.
