ltdiver 3 #1 July 22, 2005 Well, I'd never seen this in So. Cal before last night. Fortune 500 companies are having major problems in this 100+ heat here in the area! Last night, after the movies, I went to fill up my car at the Shell station. Mind you it was 11pm at night and the temperature was -still- over 90 degrees in Ontario. Well, I slipped my card in the pump and began pumping. It got to 22 cents and it locked up! I thought, hey....first time I'd pumped a gas well dry. So, I canceled the sale and went to another station. That pump served a little better..... 23 cents and stopped. This time it wouldn't cancel out! Store manager entered the info from inside.....for a 3rd try. It wouldn't even run at all!! Geeze! My tank was almost dry, so went to another station and was able to pump o.k. (It was Chevron, if it makes a difference ). Then TODAY....I went by the bank (major player in U.S. banking) and the ATM faulted! Black lines appeared -after- I entered my info and what I wanted. No go. Then it spit money at me (the $$ amount I wanted) from my -other- account. Went inside. The tellers said it had been happening all day and they figured it was the heat. Their old ATM machines were HUGE and had air conditioners in them. These newer ones were small and did not! Dang....you'd think that being in a hot desert location would clue these major companies into making allowances for our normal heat wave every summer. Has anyone else experienced things like this with a large company? If so....is it the heat? Or something else? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
