Health insurance for Canadian's year in Florida

So I'm exchanging from my university in Canada to FIU in Miami for 2 semesters. Anyone know the best way to get insurance? I've been told I may want to buy a policy from a US provider instead of travel insurance from Canada. I'd like something that won't be void if I'm hurt jumping though. Any experts out there?
