SpeedRacer 1 #1 July 22, 2005 Just watched it. Amazing film! stars Dennis Quaid as Sam Houston and Billy Bob Thornton as David Crockett, Patrick Wilson as William Travis, and Jason Patric as Jim Bowie. I can't understand why this film didn't get more attention when it came out. anyway, I'm watching the extra bonus features right now. They actually built a full scale Alamo. And used muskets with real ammo. anyway, go rent this movie tonight. that is an order. edited to correct a name. sorry. moodyskydiver 0 #2 July 22, 2005 Quotestars Dennis Quaid as John Houston uh..that would be Sam Houston, not John Houston. Learn some Texas history. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

SpeedRacer 1 #6 July 22, 2005 even PeeWee Herman remebered the Alamo! (except the fact that it doesn't have a basement!) Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

JohnMitchell 16 #8 July 22, 2005 The IMAX Alamo movie was good, too. I heard it was historically accurate. It shows every day across the street from the Alamo. That's where Valinda and I got to see it. Very moving place.
moodyskydiver 0 #9 July 22, 2005 QuoteOoooooo...Damn. She just said something about YOUR MAMA! ;) LMAO! No, I just happen to go to Sam Houston State University. Everything in this friggin' town is named after the guy, so I know it well. ...and it was a nice movie. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
SpeedRacer 1 #10 July 22, 2005 ok, I had a bottle of wine last night when I made that post... that's why I screwed up the name. John Houston was a 20th century film director. Sam Houston is the guy who defeated santa anna. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

Douva 0 #12 July 22, 2005 QuoteThey actually built a full scale Alamo. When I thought I was going to try to get work on that film, a buddy and I snuck out and checked out the sets being built. They were MASSIVE. Actually, I believe they're still standing. I ended up not pursuing that film very seriously because I got a better offer (which later fell through), but my buddy got on it. HERE are some photos we took the day we snuck out there. They really don't do justice to the massive size of the set.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.

JohnRich 4 #14 July 22, 2005 QuoteHave you ever seen the set at Bracketville, where John Wayne filmed his version of the 'Alamo'? That's pretty neat! Yep, been there. There is an entire recreation of the Alamo, along with an old western town. Numerous movies have been filmed there. I was just watching "Bolero" last night with Jimmy Stewert, Dean Martin, and Raquel Welch - and recognized many of the scenes in that movie which were filmed there. It's a fun day visit. They have some actors that cruise around in cowboy outfits, and do some skits in the streets and in the bar. Very entertaining. Especially to watch the sheepherder outwit the bully cowpokes.
