Nice one Jan! :)
You can add skydivegreenbay dot com, skydivemadison, skydive-illinois, skydiveillinois, ect. In fact, just add all that show up in this search:
http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=1-800-585-5555+&FORM=QBPW

My personal favorite now? Did anyone know there's now a SkyVan in Green Bay? Anyone recognize this plane? :) http://www.skydivegreenbay.com/aircraftexp.html

Oh, yea? Well, according to the green bay website, experienced skydivers must be treated like royalty!
Quote

Experienced skydivers will enjoy the:

Indoor CLIMATE CONTROLLED, 5,000 square foot padded/carpeted packing area.
Bunk House (for a free place to stay on the drop zone).
Showers.
7 day a week full time rigging loft.
Outdoor airplane training mock ups.
Discounted lift tickets as low as $16 to 14,000 feet, that's right just $16.

5000 sq feet of A/C packing, a FREE bunkhouse, and $16 lifts? Where has this place been hiding? Oh, yea, that's right, it's still hiding. >:(

What's the beef with them? I've heard about them being the ultimate tandem mill, and that experienced jumpers are not welcome except for the staff and students that trained there. That is bad enough, but is there more?
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

They way over charge for there tandems to substandard alti. Then charge more if you want to go to full alti.

Plus the whole experienced jumpers shit you mentioned.

They just give the sport a bad name with the amount of people that get from Vagas.

And JT if i ever get the chance I'll make it up to SDM and we can make a jump.

as far as I know SD las vegas is NOT as bad as skyride,
they were just a tandem mill. here's my opinion.
as a DZO( who has KIND OF sold recently to a new almost owner) he has EVERY rigth not to want to allow fun jumpers there.

from what I understand--the problem arose when traveling jumpers were landing in parking lots and breaking all kindsa rules. so the owner stopped letting fun jumpers jump there. (boulder city is very fickle about stuff like that)
the guy makes a killing with TANDEM business and decided NOT to risk losing his business so He was only a tandem factory.
In vegas there are ALOT of visitors and the DZO of SDLV made a shitload of money. so did his employee's

the ONLY thing I have against the guy is that he treated me like I fucked his mothers dog in front of his kids just b/c I was asking about jumping there.

the staff are regular fun jumpers/instructors but they work in the SD industry. If I was making my Money soley on skydiving I would try to work at SDLV.
(simply b/c I live in vegas)

but I film tandems as a bonus at a VERY COOL laid back dropzone (skydive mesquite).
I originally did it to help out but than it became a second job which I LIKE.

so, in summary SDLV is NOT like skyride. that do NOT rape and pillage but they do have odd rules that even most of the staff has trouble tolerating.

(just wanted to clear that up before this became a hijack:D) this thread is about the skyride robbery/tactics/ lack of ethics etc.

Damn, the connection is kind of weak, but if true explains the number of tandems I saw this weekend, and the ridiculous speech I heard at the front desk when they thought I was a tandem student. ("10,000 feet is normal with 30 seconds of freefall, but for an extra $25 you can go to 12,000 feet and get a full minute of freefall [fuzzy math, eh?] and because today they're flying the big plane, you'll get another thousand feet for free and get 70 seconds of freefall from 13,000 feet")

I hope you're wrong, because, unfortunately, exploring around suggests LP has something approximating the same connection to skyride. :( If true, I wouldn't understand it...it's not like they've got any competition to beat. :S

However(!)...according to the "find a place to skydive" page, "Montana Skydiving" is near Billings (nowhere near LP). That would make it irrelevant in my book , as I've never even heard of a DZ near Billings, but I still had to quote this part from the page just because it's funny:

Quote

Montana Skydiving Center suggests this method for your first skydive. Tandem skydives are very popular because they require minimal training (usually less than an hour), and maintain the highest degree of safety. You will be harnessed to your instructor during the entire skydive, so you are free to simply enjoy your skydive! Your jump will include approximately 70 seconds of freefall, followed by a canopy ride that lasts anywhere from 7 to 9 minutes. You will be encouraged to steer the parachute. You may also request to do flips and turns (steer yourself) in freefall! We highly recommend this method of enjoying your first skydive!

:S

70 seconds of freefall and 7-9 minutes of canopy ride at a DZ that's over 3500' MSL? :S:D
