kelel01 1 #76 July 22, 2005 Hey, whatever they want . . . it's a free country, right? I just think it's SHIT to in any way determine that MY ATTITUDE would be the problem, when faced with someone who wants a glorified puppy dog as a wife. I'm perfectly happy weeding out the men looking for doormats and looking for one who desires a PARTNER.

I'm perfectly happy weeding out the men looking for doormats and looking for one who desires a PARTNER. I didn't mean to imply that *I* think you're attitude is a problem. I was trying to convey what some guys I have known expressed to me. Personally I dearly love American women!!! Of course they don't always love me for some reason I can't figure out. billvon 3,116 #79 July 22, 2005 >Yeah . . . um . . . so Asian girls are all doormats? More >importantly, this is an attractive quality? Some asian woman (and some american women) are more passive and are looking for a more active partner to be in charge. It's attractive to some people, which is fine. What you are describing is what was considered an 'ideal' marriage in the 1950's - a docile wife and a hardworking husband. Watch 'it's a wonderful life' for an example of this sort of relationship; the man is most clearly in charge. Some women prefer to be in charge; that's fine. Some prefer to be equals in a relationship; that's fine too. If you want the right to ask for equality, respect the rights of others to ask for something different. >Men who say stuff like that should have their nuts cut off . . . Why? The amount of equality in a relationship has to make sense to the people involved, no one else. A woman who wants to stay at home and not make a lot of decisions is no less of a woman than a woman who wants to be a CEO and work full time.
kelel01 1 #80 July 22, 2005 But that's not what I read. I have no problem with the concept of being a stay-at-home mom. But my opinion should count. Everyone's opinion should count. Of course there's always going to be a balance of power, but specifically seeking out people you can walk all over sounds shitty to me. And I don't know ANYONE like that . . . at least not to the point that they recognize and verbalize it.
kelel01 1 #81 July 22, 2005 And Bill, you can't tell me that comparing your wife to a dog is an ok thing to do. It's blatantly spelled out in that post.
billvon 3,116 #82 July 22, 2005 >But my opinion should count. Everyone's opinion should count. Of course! Your opinion _should_ count when it comes to your relationships (well, you and your partner's. that is.) Just remember that it doesn't necessarily apply to anyone else. > Of course there's always going to be a balance of power, but > specifically seeking out people you can walk all over sounds shitty to > me. And I don't know ANYONE like that . . . I've met a few people like that, people in very unequal relationships where one person "walks all over" the other. As long as that's what both people want, there's nothing wrong with that. It fills a need in some people.

Diversgodown 0 #85 July 22, 2005 I think I gotta + my 2cnts. I think that all the nice girls found that they were getting walked on by asshole guys--- so they decided to become more like guys and go out for a good time--- which in turn, guys got all pissed off because the girls weren't doting over them and decided they were bitches... When really all the "nice girls" just became more like guys in there aloof attitude towards men and guys don't like it....Just a thought ... But I also see good friends that are way to nice and get trampled on by worthless cunts (pardon my language) but they are!!! or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass ***Glory Favors the Bold***
kelel01 1 #86 July 22, 2005 Ok, my last thing on this. Then I have to clean. What I meant by my entire first post is that the relationship described in that post showed exactly zero respect for the woman. If you're attracted to submissive people, fine. However, regardless, you should love and respect the one you marry. And comparing them to a dog shows neither of those. Yes, you might be attracted to their submissive quality, but that shouldn't build a marriage - just like money shouldn't be what your marriage is based on. RESPECT has to be there somewhere. And that person had no respect for his wife referring to her in that way.

happythoughts 0 #91 July 22, 2005 Where are all the nice girls ? The ones who want boyfriends, have them. The ones who don't want a b/f, have their own lives and prefer it that way. Either way, they are unavailable generally. Unfortunately, most women don't actually commmunicate with men about what men want. Then they are surprised when he's not interested or eventually kicks them to the curb.
