GTAVercetti 0 #1 July 27, 2005 Sorry for the long post: A little while ago, a friend of mine, Dan, and fellow jumper was injured in a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan. He lost his right hand and part of his forarm. As a partial rant (and not the point of this message) I feel the need to make, he would have probably been fine if his convoy had been supplied with more armored vehicles so that he would have had to ride in a goddamn pick up truck. But that is moot. He is home now and getting better all the time. We already have a friend and master rigger looking into rig modifications. I have taken on another front: video games. While in Afghanistan, another friend sent Dan a PS2 and a few games. Now, Dan is wondering how he is going to play games. PC games are not a big deal as keys can easily be mapped elsewhere. The problem comes in with dual analog sticks and also because the buttons mostly reside on the right side. He lost his right hand and so it will be nearly impossible to play the FPS's he likes (Halo, Half Life, etc) with the current controller. In order to help Dan, i wrote to the authors of http://www.penny-arcade.com. They write an online gaming comic and often raised money for children. In turn they got me in contact with the Get-Well Gamer Foundation who made calls to sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. Sony and Nintendo were a bust, but he told me that Microsoft is currently workingon alloting time and budget to help!! However, he told me that he not sure anything will come of it, so as to not have only one avenue, I thought I would write this post to ask if anyone knows anybody who has had a special controller made or perhaps knows an amputee gamer. If so, feel free to post here or PM me. Thanks. RobWhy yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
