sharimcm 0 #28 July 26, 2005 Just like their mommy! Yeah, she's the most evil, dumb ass cat I have come across. She'll get her claw stuck in the couch or carpet and cry because she doesn't know how to retract them. Then, it you pet her too much, she'll start chomping on the closest body part to her mouth... moodyskydiver 0 #33 July 26, 2005 Beware Dave, cats are like potato chips(or skydivers)...you think you'll stop at one but end up with a bunch of them all over your couch! Michele 1 #35 July 26, 2005 Dave, that is a darling girl. Well done, and thanks for taking her in. Please spay her between 4-6 months, so there aren't a ton of little Katy Kats running around. If you have any questions about cats, I'd be more than happy to help. She looks like a little talker and firebrand! Nightingale 0 #36 July 26, 2005 Awww... what a cutie! if she's extremely playful, might want to invest in "softpaws". Kitten claws are SHARP and they'll pounce on damn near anything that moves.
AggieDave 6 #37 July 26, 2005 She's definately getting spayed. And you're right, she is really a talker.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I've never heard of them, googled them up and ordered a set. Thanks for the hot tip, that's awesome! Morgan will be glad as well, Katie tends to play much rougher with Morgan then me, leading to some pretty serious but unintended scratches.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Elisha 1 #40 July 26, 2005 I just clip my boy's claws regularly. Since I had him since he was Dave's new girl's size, he's used to it. Just massage the paws to get them used to it. They also have to be in a relaxed, compliant mood (e.g. half-asleep/curled up works). And it's the fronts that usually do all the scratching damage. Re: Spaying. Err on the lower end. You can actually do it as early as 2 months (yes, even females - the vet said so). My cat has a calico sister that he's played with at times (I know her owner) and she was actually in Heat while being spayed at 5 months! And she was starting to be let out through the cat door at that time as well!
AggieDave 6 #41 July 26, 2005 I'd believe it, this kitten's mother is just a hair over 1 year old when Katie was born.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Elisha 1 #42 July 26, 2005 I know my cat's mom as well (well, the owner too of course - she's the choir director at my church). She was only 9 mos when she had her first litter (I guess somewhat intended by the owner), but my cats litter was the oops litter - meant to have her spayed but didn't she could get pregnant again so quickly (cats are sluts). Nightingale 0 #43 July 26, 2005 the softpaws will come off every so often, so it's good to have extras lying around. Doing the whole set of claws is a pain, but once they're done, you're only replacing them as they wear off, so it's easy to just do one claw or a few at a time. I try to put the colored ones on my cats, because then it's a little easier to tell when they come off. It's easier to get softpaws on if you trim the claws first, but don't cut the quick (pink line that runs down the claw about halfay). People nail clippers work fine if you turn them vertically, but pet claw clippers are much easier to use. softpaws have been a lifesaver for my feet and furniture. My cat loves to leap out from under a table and pounce on feet and ankles. The other wonderful thing I've discovered is disposable litter boxes. Set it out for a week, then pick it up, toss it, and put out a new one. it's sooo much less hassle than a regular catbox.
pBASEtobe 0 #44 July 26, 2005 QuoteSo is this a FEMALE orange tabby? Those are rare, as they are mostly male (maybe like 90+% - I should google it). True, I have a male and I've only seen one female red tabby. The true female version is the calico.

Elisha 1 #46 July 27, 2005 OK, pics of my boy by comparison. His name is Falafel (as in the mediterranean sandwich). The big gray & white cat is Mega-Man, my former roommate's cat. The pic with the calico female is his sister, Grace. I'm holding them by the scruff so I can get them still enough so Grace's owner can take picture, otherwise they were non-stop chasing each other. They are both around 5 months in this picture, while Falafel is about 2 months or so in the other pictures.

moodyskydiver 0 #48 July 27, 2005 *quick hijack* Quoteok Amber, I know its been while since we talked but , Congrats. I didnt know you got married Thanks! Don't feel too out of the loop we just got married June 10th..still newly weds. I've kept a rather low profile around here lately. We didn't make a big deal about the engagement or huge announcements or anything and kept it simple so not many people knew at all. Then the ceremony was very small/private. No big reason, just felt like having some time to myself with my guy. So I've been getting alot of replies like yours.PM me if you want to catch up on anything else. Anywho, *hijack over*..back to kitties and such "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
Elisha 1 #49 July 27, 2005 QuoteRight on, good looking kittens there...looks like they have a great time together. Thanks! Yeah, Falafel is a total pretty boy now. He's very affectionate, but scared of his own shadow. He's afraid to go outside, but will occasionally door dash, get out, and then wander back in 15 min or so later (I leave the door open for him since he wasn't supposed to get out anyway). Elisha 1 #50 July 27, 2005 bump....bump.... OK guys. It's a new day and I posted my boy's pics. AggieDave already commented, now it is time for the rest of you to say how cute my boy is too. I'm sure he's love to play with Katie, even though he is about 1 yr now. Don't worry, he's not impregnatin' nuthin' - been fixed for a while.
