mdrejhon 8 #1 August 3, 2005 I must miss skydiving. Today, I ran down the office hallway pretending to do my final. Knees and legs together... 50 feet... 40 feet... 30 feet... 20 feet... standby... FLAAAAAAAARE... *imitates pulling down on a smooth flare* ... turf surf... wait for the ground to reach me... gentle standup, no steps forward. Yay! I must be nuts for doing that down the hall past the office cubicles. Although, that was after most people left for home... Anxious to jump again this weekend. It's been three weeks because I'm still paying off my damn rig debt (70% paid down thankfully!). Fortunately, my paycheck arrives in a few days! waltappel 1 #5 August 3, 2005 I can relate. Personally, I'm all about the pull, but I can definitely relate the the flare. Walt
GogglesnTeeth 6 #6 August 3, 2005 When I was a static line student, I used to practice my arch and "the count" while riding my bike no hands. I'm sure I got a few odd looks as cars zipped by me on the bike path, but I didn't care!!Goggles and Teeth "You fall like a greased safe!!!"

Darius11 12 #11 August 3, 2005 Oh thank God I am not the only crazy one. I track towards doors in my apartment, and when I want to all of a sudden turn lets say to the kitchen I use my imaginary front raisers and hook it for the cold glass of water. I was talking to another skydiver at my DZ we both pretend to flare when we come to a stop sign. It’s good to know that I am not crazy, or at least not the only one who is crazy I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

dbattman 0 #13 August 3, 2005 When I was taking flying lessons, I'd fly a chair in my room practicing stalls and such. Then I'd go out and practice landing patterns around the coffee table. What fun!
missg8tordivr 0 #14 August 3, 2005 QuoteI was talking to another skydiver at my DZ we both pretend to flare when we come to a stop sign. That is the one I do the most. Stop sign or red lights are a perfect time to practice flaring! Now if I can only get it right under canopy. It does feel good to know that you are not the only crazy one *** F LORIDA! davedlg 0 #15 August 3, 2005 I work on the top floor of a 12 story office building. I am always looking out the window thinking...okay I would be on final at this altitude and I would land about - there- looking at a point in the parking lot. Also whenever I drive around and see a big field, I think, " I could land a parchute there" I went backpacking a few weeks ago and found myself reaching back to check my hackey from time to time. calledisrael 0 #16 August 3, 2005 i was start...coast... stopping around the office kitchen the other day without even thinking about it. and i like the guy who practices his EPs while boarding passenger planes. i am not used to wearing a heavy backpack, and this summer i did while i was overseas. i found myself getting on planes and subconsciously trying to 'protect my handles' in the crowd. life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.
