adrenalinejunki 0 #9 August 4, 2005 I have to work every other weekend no matter what the weather. We work 12 days in a row and then get off 2 days before starting it again. Minimum work day is 12 hours and ussually runs over atleast an hour or 2 everyday. It is 10:21 pm and I just got home from work, been there since 6 am this morning. It's not unusual to for me to go to work thinking I am working 12 hours and end up working 24 hours or more before getting to go home. So far the longest shift I have had to work was 36 hours and then got 8 hours off in a hotel and then pulled another 24 hours. On the weekends that I don't work I am too tired to do anything (except jump). I am a truck mechanic for an oilfield service company. It sucks bigtime but pays good. __________________________________________________What's the worst that can happen?
sharimcm 0 #10 August 4, 2005 I have to work every third Sunday, but no Saturdays unless they ask REAL nice. Usually when it is my Sunday to work, the skies are blue and there's not a cloud in the sky. Damn... Feeblemind 1 #16 August 4, 2005 Unfortunately I work one day of the weekend for three weeks straight, get two weekends off, then work at least one day per weekend for three weeks straight, cycle is repeated throughout the year. This is the one draw back to being a firefighter, but then again we can jump during the week and don't have to fight those fully loaded planes.
