jtval 0 #1 August 4, 2005 Ok So I go through phases with running (I stop mostly due to injuries acquired while hiking and climbing etc) but recently I have found a desire to run more often than usual but I am having problems with clothing. is there any type of online store I can check out that has running shorts. sounds odd but lemme explain. I've searched for Runnign shorts but I am not sure what kind of support they have. I normally wear boxer briefs but I am getting to the point where the seam on the inside of the leg is starting to chaff me. (Sorry for those who are making faces right now) do regular Running shorts have any kind of support that replaces boxer briefs? is there a certain type of undergarment that is made to help ease the chaffing? I need a good Sports bra for my nuts! LOLMy photos My Videos

Guest #5 August 4, 2005 I use high-hip Tommy Hilfiger briefs to provide the support needed so things don't get all knocked around, without actually wearing a j/s. That and lightweight nylon running shorts, essentially shells. Get a few pairs, they can get washed with whites too. That and flat shoes. I was wearing the Nike shox and they were messing up my knees. Went and finalyy saw a doc about the knee pain, sent me to a podiatrist, pod looked at my shoes and said to go buy some New Balance, or any flat shoe that doesn't add pronation/curve ito your step. If you look at the shox, where your foot meets the pad/sole, it is not close to being level. You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
skycat 0 #6 August 4, 2005 Derek wears underarmor under which ever shorts he decides to wear jogging. Protects those sensitive bits when he sprints (It's a mis-guided hope that sprinting will wear Sherpa out).Fly it like you stole it!
Balls 0 #7 August 4, 2005 I wear Underarmour compression shorts when I run.---------------------------------------- ....so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat."

larsrulz 0 #9 August 4, 2005 If you like your runwear other than the chaffing it causes, then get some body glide. It's a skin lubricant, that is used by a lot of triathletes, but I also use it just for running, particularly if it's really hot and I'm running long. I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF
bwilling 0 #10 August 4, 2005 QuoteThat and flat shoes. Well, good point, but it's not flat shoes for everybody, it's what fits your body style, depending on your natural gait, and whether you're neutral, pronate, or supinate... highly recommended to visit a running store for fitting by a qualified salesman if you're unsure of this... it'll definitely save wear and tear on your body if your shoes fit correctly, and that doesn't just mean size wise! Guest #12 August 5, 2005 Quote Well, good point, but it's not flat shoes for everybody I agree with you there mate. What I also didn't say was that just because a shoe fits comfy in the store, does not make it the best for your body. I was unaware how much "negative angle" pronation were built into the shox. What I had been doing was starting with the most expensive running shoe and then trying them on down in price until I found the something comfortable. (yeah, I know, ) Didn't have to do that. And judging by the Footsteps of Reston web site, you guys have MUCH better and qualified shoe salesmen than we do! You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two. jtval 0 #13 August 5, 2005 SWEET THANKS!!! I grabbed an ALMOST great pair. so far this week I've run 4 miles M,T,W rode my bike for 8 miles and tonihgt I ran for my fit test. (my fit test is a timed 1.5 mile run.) I ran an 11M 58S run. that's an 8 minute mile. I'm not 18 anymore either. My goal is to knock 1.5 minutes off of that time by 31 aug. 3 years ago I was running a 5M 45S mile. I would like to get CLOSER to that but I dont think I'll ever run that speed again but a if I get to my goal... a 30+ year old runnng 7 minute miles is pretty good ...at least for my ego!My photos My Videos
