No I'm not offering a free container, but here's my deal:

My office has a lot of money to spend before a certain time later in the year. We're designing all these backpacks to give away to interns, lunchbags, pens, all kinds of random crap. I was talking to my boss and he says "Why don't you just get a parachute with our logo on it?" The thing is, transactions have to be less than $2500 and I would have to word it so it looks like a legit everyday expense.

Since canopies with logos cost a hell of a lot (more than $2500 i would guess) I'm thinking that maybe I could get a container with our logos on it. He doesn't seem to mind that.

My problem is the wording. How can I phrase getting a container? I'm thinking something like "Community Outreach Program Demonstration Materials" or something along the lines of that, but I want it to sound really really good.

Any ideas on how I can phrase this and possibly get a fresh container?

My boss might be joking, but if I make this sound good enough I might be able to pull it off. Help please!

Actually, I was reviewing a certain container manufacturer's website yesterday and was floored to see that a reasonably equipped container was retailing for nearly $3,000. :o That was just with rings, soft reserve handle, hackey handle, and fancy RSL...no hook knife, tie-dye, embroidery, pinstripes, or fancy backpad.

You might be able to do the parachute angle if you separate the canopy and the logo into separate expenses.

The description should hinge on whatever your company does. e.g. Advertising - Market Presence Dynamic Display.

Bobby,
Backpacks for interns, i assume will have your company logo/logo's on them? How are they being labeled? I would shoot for "Outdoor promotional Materials" for a container. For a canopy i like the Community Outreach Demonstration Materials. If i think of anything else i'll let you know. BTW, way to work the system.B|

Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.

hmm.... you've got a point. For the backpacks, I believe we'll just be saying "Intern promotional giveaways". Fuck, why can't I just say "Employee promotional giveaway".

Hmmm.... i like, i like.

Keep the ideas rollin' people!:)

Question - do you want the bean counters to know its a rig or not? Exactly. But don't lie about it.

Just make it sound like a backpack, but you'll be safer if its a coupon for $500 of or some such. (Who buys a $2500 backpack?) Maybe "High altitude certified backpack with rescue apparatus" or "Backpack with nylon slowing device", the goal is to be as inconspicuous as possible, and put the line item in the middle of some other VERY normal items like, you got it, other backpacks and lunch bags.

You can have it good, fast, or cheap: pick two.
