Would you clone your pet?

Absofrickinlutely!!! While technically Billy Bob's not mine, anybody who knows that dog knows how awesome he is...

I'm going to be soooo sad when he's gone. He's like a real person and he makes me feel so special - especially when Chuck's on the road!:)

If the cost wasn't a factor, I definately would.

I think the personality may not be the same, but with the same genetic makeup and the same owners, the personality would be similar.

It would also give me the chance to work on some of those personality traits I don't like in her new training.

and dog cloning is supposedly up and coming.

And here it is:

Personally, I think people will clone ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. Religion aside, morals aside, even laws aside, people will still clone. Why? Because we can.

'Course, they have to work out quite a few bugs - the sheep died prematurely of cancer and arthritis, so there's a lot more "science" to be done. But eventually, there will be cloned people, cloned dinosaurs and maybe someday will find the real Shroud of Turin and clone Jesus. Who knows?

Nope. Lost my old cat (16 years) a couple of years ago.

Looking at losing my other old cat (16 years) probably within the year.

Love em dearly. Wouldnt clone either one. Love em too much to try to replicate them. I'll cherish their memory by sharing my home with another deserving SPCA cat.

I second that!!!

The only certainties are that the golden-clone (of Jake) would be just as lazy and the lab-clone (of Cale) would be just as spaztic (pic attached). Still, couldn't do it. Brings to mind the whole nature vs. nurture debate...genetically, they'd be the same, but that's not everything.

I'd rather have my little cutie stuffed...should something happened to him than cloned.

Once cloned....the uniqueness is lost!

I saw a TV show years back that did a feature on a business that specializes in freeze-drying pets. It's kind of like taxidermy in that it preserves the animal and leaves it very alive-looking.

Anyway, there was a lady who *really* loved her cats. Her favorite cat died and she had it freeze-dried because she could not bear to part with it. They showed the freeze-dried cat in her home (I think it was on the cat's favorite bookshelf, or something, and (of course) showed her living cat looking at it kind of funny but otherwise ignoring it.
