To those who have kids, what is the going rate babysitters ask for watching a 5 year old boy?

For one kid, 5 or 6 a hour should be fine.

When mine were babysitting age, I paid $5/hour, minimum 4 hours paid. I'd also tip the babysitter, depending on how the kids behaved.

As much as the market will bear! Seriously, $4.00 - $6.00, depending on the sitter and if the kids are anything like mine were... a twenty, up-front, wont hurt!

I guess I'm getting off cheap when I pay $9/hr for my 3. One takes care of herself, and the other two need continual, arms-length supervision.

It's funny, we go through caregivers soooo rapidly.....

i still babysit for pocket cash - but on average i get $8-$10/hour - but you can DEFINITELY get away with paying less if your sitter is younger

usually i just let the parents give me whatever theyre comfortable with- if its too much i'll tell them - its your call - you pay whatever you want

My ladies are a steady 16 hours per week each, and they get health benefits...so it's a whole comp package thing. We go through an agency.

If I hire sitters other than my permanent caregivers, it's around that amount though.
