base428 1 #1 August 10, 2005 I need a ram-air parachute drawn using Solidworks. Solidworks is a 3D CAD software package and drawing a parachute can be very time consuming. I'm working on a gov't project that utilizes small parachutes to drop our payload. Any help would be appreciated. Cya.(c)2010 Vertical Visions. pBASEtobe 0 #2 August 10, 2005 I had thought about doing it for fun a while back but decided it would be WAY too time consuming. Good luck.
SkiD_PL8 0 #3 August 10, 2005 What file types can you import? Greenie in training.
base428 1 #4 August 10, 2005 See the attached image showing all possible Solidworks imports. I'm mainly looking for 3D versions (I believe that includes STL, IGES, some ProE and SolidEdge extensions, etc.). Of course, standard Solidworks SLDPRT/SLDASM files would absolutely make my day, but anything is better than what I currently have. Many thanks!!! PhreeZone 20 #5 August 10, 2005 Contact Atair. They are always mentioning how all their stuff is done through CAD and showing all the pretty models they have created.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
base428 1 #6 August 10, 2005 Yep, Atair has one already and I've been talking to them a lot lately. I'm assuming they'll charge me for it, so that's why I asked here first. Maybe I'll ask Dan for a favor.....(c)2010 Vertical Visions. No unauthorized duplication permitted. <==For the media only
Channman 2 #7 August 10, 2005 May want to out source this task. Sun Path Industries uses Acad 2005, and Acad may be more of the norm for the industry. We us ProE Solid Modeling for all our design work, but when it came to developing a 3-Ring Release System we out sourced to those who specialize in that field. Saved us time and money. teamhypoxia 0 #8 August 10, 2005 Mine is done in Autocad (dwg. file) it's not accurate but a reasonable representation. See here for an example....
