BillyVance 35 #3 August 10, 2005 Well, if you haven't gotten your A license and you take so much time off from the sport so you could pay your credit card bills, you might end up having to do some kind of re-currency jump or repeat something in the training, it all depends on what the SIM says. Go get your A license first then pay the bills... If you're only skipping a month of jumping or something like that, then go pay the bills first."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
madscape 0 #4 August 10, 2005 Pay your goddamn bills. Bankruptcy will seriously fuckup your credit, and Good credit is key to being financially secure in today's economy. It's stupid people playing instead of paying that cost the rest of us money when they blow off their bills, in the form of higher interest rates. How stupid can one be to become dependant on credit cards...they're the main reason there are so many poor people. Financial literacy is the first step to not being poor. Superman32 0 #9 August 10, 2005 Pay for your CC first, then use your newly paid off CC to pay for jumps See everybody is happy - All you have to do is THINK people, THINK Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!
tigra 0 #10 August 10, 2005 Ok, so seriously. If you have enough money to pay off your credit cards, do that. If you pay them (or it) off, that's less bills you need to pay every month, which is more money for jumps, right?
ifall 0 #11 August 10, 2005 I had to make that same choice just recently. I chose responsibility now, play later. I don't have credit card debt but I have some extra toys I'm trying to get rid of and I am wanting to buy a house. I'm not as close to an A license as you though. Don't screw up your credit!! If you pay them (or it) off, that's less bills you need to pay every month, which is more money for jumps, right? Well it wouldn't completely pay them off and the thing is it will be cheaper for me to complete my license while I am up in Chicago next week than it would for me to do it here in Dallas. I think think I may be 3/4 responsible and maybe do 2 or three more jumps, use the rest on cards then finish my License in Dallas. That would give me a chance to get to know some people at my new DZ anyhow. The bidding will start at $20 ***Glory Favors the Bold***

tigra 0 #15 August 10, 2005 Weeelllll, you *may* find its easier to go to a new DZ as a licensed skydiver. If you are almost finished with AFP (and your license) it does make a certain amount of sense to finish up. But I'd hate to promote irresponsibility like that! skybytch 273 #16 August 10, 2005 Oh, just ignore all these responsible people. Go jump. Put the jumps on the credit cards you aren't paying. After 10 or 15 years and a couple new addresses they'll stop coming after you for the money.

Sopheavy 0 #23 August 10, 2005 I don't know what to say.... I think if you pay off your credit card you'll feel better because you know you're being responsible. And....you won't have to worry about people calling the house at odd times in the day looking for payment. The craziest advice I ever got is from my writer friend who got his Ph.D from Harvard. He suggested I do what he did, get a ton of student loans, charge everything on credit and file for bankruptcy before 30 because it won't look so bad because of the "student" status years. Right now, he's broke but he claims he's very happy immersing in his writings.---------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- If you want to see the rainbow, you gotta put up with the storm. Even then (and 19 is an age where one often tries to figure out how to beat the system) I thought it was a shitty thing to do. BTW, being in control of your finances is one of the most powerful things you can do. Often that means paying off your bills. Then save some money. Then you don't have to worry nearly as much. Really. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
