DeNReN 0 #26 July 27, 2005 Hitting the door while opperating the switch is a good way to partionally diagnose a faulty motor...IE: push switch...nothing at all happens...hit door...window starts working....9 times out of 10...you will need a motor...... However Kelel's problem sounds much more like a regulator problem...and Hyndai's are know for regulator problems....I personally have replaced over 20 of then this past year. I stay away from pricing out repairs at work...the cost of repairing cars scares even me ...average labour would be approx. 1.5 hours and the window regulator is a dealer part..so call them for part pricing....and again...I am only guessing what is wrong...the door panel needs to come off to properly diagnose the problem.... See if you and a friend can get the window up...then use our old friend Mr Duct tape

Kris 0 #33 July 27, 2005 QuoteQuoteAnyone know how to fix this? yep...don't buy hyundai!! Buncha' damn haters. I had my 2000 Tiburon from new to 60K miles without a single problem until I tried to skin a deer with it at 70mph. By the time it was totalled, I was putting down almost 200HP at the wheels and that little car could lay some serious waste. Even stock it was impressive. I've owned a 300Z and an IROC 5.7 litre, and that Tiburon was still one of the most fun cars I've ever driven. kelel01 1 #34 July 27, 2005 Well, since there's a thunderstorm coming right now, I just decided to put blue painters' tape on my window to hold it up. As I was driving home from work, it fell almost all the way down.
DeNReN 0 #35 July 27, 2005 Painters tape ?? Damn girl....duct tape I said...DUCT TAPE!!!!!!!! On a cool note...just had a series of calls from my ST&A(or is it S&TA..can never remember)...His wife just gave birth to a baby girl ...called me up in a panic..."must feed the mother of my children!!!!"...I was able to walk him through a couple of things and he actually fixed the car on the side of the road

My freakin' window on the other side just did the same thing. I'm now sportin' 2 windows with blue painter's tape holding them up. Jeez-o-Pete. I can't afford $400 to get one fixed, so I certainly can't afford $800. There are roughly 37 little plastic clips holding it on that you pry up gently with a screwdriver. If you break 1/3 of them the door cover will still stay on and not rattle too much. Look at what's inside. The mechanic is overwhelmingly likely to be right about the problem. However, if you take a properly sized 2X2, cover the ends with a couple of face cloths or foam pipe wrap (they last better than sponge), and ram it under the window, it will hold the window up indefinitely. For extra security, use the duct tape to hold the 2X2 to the door frame (there's usually a piece that comes down the middle), or some piece of the X that holds up the window. Then pop the inside cover back in. The window won't open any more, but it will be more secure to keep that thief magnet the Elantra safe Next lesson in jerry-rigging is how to fix a sticky throttle cable with a set screw and bicycle brake cable Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it.
