Douva 0 #1 August 17, 2005 I haven’t been in school in eight years, but every year I still get that strange sinking feeling in my stomach when the calendar rolls back over to August. Even though September and October are traditionally the nicest months of the year in Central Texas, I still have this nagging “back to school” feeling that haunts me around this time of year. So to those of you headed back to school in the next week or two, I feel your pain.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names. MikeJD 0 #3 August 17, 2005 Actually I think many kids are so bored by the end of the summer - sad, but true - that they can't wait to go back.
FallingAngel 0 #4 August 17, 2005 This will be my first summer not going back to school as I just graduated in May...it's starting to get a little wierd because normally around this time I'm finishing up my internship and getting ready to go back to school, if not already back. Instead, I'm gearing up to start a big project that will last until the end of the year or so.

AggieDave 6 #6 August 17, 2005 Are you kidding, I've been in "school" for 2 weeks now and I'm still very very excited. Its the most excited I've been about "school" in a long time. So I say meh to your strange sinking feeling in your stomach and offer up some tums.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jmpnkramer 0 #7 August 17, 2005 Quote Actually I think many kids are so bored by the end of the summer - sad, but true - that they can't wait to go back. I don't know where the hell you live but I can assure you that kids in Florida are never looking forward to going back. During the summer months I had more time to travel. We could charter a boat for deep sea fishing and goto the Bahamas. Takes around 30-50 min off the coast. Went to Mexico one year to Surf. Went on a cruise one summer. I know personally I never looked forward to going back. I enjoyed life. I guess it all depends on if you know how to enjoy yourself as to whether or not you enjoy going back. If you are a bump on a log then going back to school might be exciting. I saw it as taking away from my adventures. I could skip school back then and still pass. I am an adult now so skipping work is not an option. You just get fired. Maybe someday I will find a decent job that will let me take off without pay and still keep my job. I haven't been in school since the last century! I guess, all the talk on local news about kids going back to school, triggered a thought in my brain that caused the dream (nightmare)! lawrocket 3 #13 August 17, 2005 QuoteActually I think many kids are so bored by the end of the summer - sad, but true - that they can't wait to go back. That was me. I liked summer vacation for the first couple of weeks and then I got bored. I actually read a 30 volume encyclopedia between the summer after my second grade and the fourth grade. I remember starting because I wanted to read stuff. I got VERY bored in the summer. My wife is hotter than your wife.

skybytch 273 #15 August 17, 2005 QuoteSchool!!! YUK!!! I'd love to go back to school. School is far less work than work is. I like back to school shopping too. Nothing screams possibility more than a crisp, clean, new spiral notebook or three. And what about the fun of going through new-to-you textbooks to see what the previous "owner" scribbled in the margins, or to see if you know anybody that used it before you. Yeah. I wanna go back to school too, dammit.

psipike02 0 #20 August 17, 2005 Yeah i get that feeling every year. I'm gonna be a senior this year, so I definately have that feeling. I'm looking forward to getting back to Michigan Football, my fraternity, my friends, the bars, and Ann Arbor in general, but class.....not so much... Especially since the past two summers I've spent it out here in Colorado at an Internship. I've loved it out here, especially this summer since I started jumping. I make my AFF7 jump saturday and I leave to go back Sunday. Its gonna be very hard to leave and its gonna be a long 18 hour drive back......Puttin' some stank on it. ----Hellfish #707----
