ACMESkydiver 0 #1 August 18, 2005 Ok so it's nothing news worthy, it's just a second hole in my ear...but it's all yucky. I have been washing it with salt water now and then (I have been very bad at that ). It was just done on July 17th, so I can't take the jewelry out yet -it has one of these lil' captive ball bead thingy's (see pic) in it. It's the tiniest gauge they make (like 18 or something?) It's just one ear that's infected, the other one is fine. So what would you clean this with? Rubbing alcohol or peroxide? It's red and developed a tiny red lump above the hole. It hurts when I lay on that side in bed. <--Not bad or anything, but it's annoying, y'know? Now then I would call and ask the guy that did my piercing, but it's getting late & I've bugged Pauly enough. I'm sure somebody has had this problem come up with this kind of thing. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. dixieskydiver 0 #2 August 18, 2005 It may be too late to get an answer from one of the many piercing experts around here but do a quick search, I do recall reading about this extensively in several posts. Tyrion 0 #3 August 18, 2005 Saltwater soaks every day. Wash it thoroughly with an antibacterial soap in the shower (every day as well). Another thing you can do is after your shower, get some tea tree oil on a cotton tip and put a bit on the jewellery around the piercing which will fight off some of the nasties. Take a look here for a guide on taking care of your ears (its a lobe stretching FAQ but it still applies): http://onetribe.nu/catalog/stretching.php My ears were a little sore for a while when i got em done but now they're all good and healed. (took a couple of months)
heidihagen 0 #4 August 18, 2005 that sounds messy. make sure you keep rotating it and clean the jewelry when you clean your ears. i'm not a piercing expert, but i'll throw in what i can until the rest of the world wakes up. the ear solution worked everytime i got my ears done.. i didn't put anything else on. when i got my belly button done, they told me to clean it with antibacterial soap & betadine.. and that healed okay. my friend ashley, didn't rotate her jewelry and hers got reallllllllly infected. but then my other piercing, they just told me to use anibacterial soap (betadine kills all bacteria)... and that worked too! if its so infected you can't twist the back of the earring... get help! that happened to my sister.... she had to get surgically removed because the skin grew over the back.i didn't lose my mind, i sold it on ebay. .:need a container to fit 5'4", 110 lb. cypres ready & able to fit a 170 main (or slightly smaller):.[/ce
Tyrion 0 #5 August 18, 2005 Oh, and make sure you clean the jewellery BEFORE you rotate it! Otherwise you're just dragging junk through the hole.
swedishcelt 0 #6 August 18, 2005 Was it done in surgical steel? If not it could be that. I got peirced in gold with same problem. If it isn't surgical steel then you could be allergic to the metal it is done in.

It is actually looking better this morning (I did use a tiny bit of peroxide, as that's all I had last night.) I have anti-bacterial soap, so I'll use some of that too. I'll be washing it with salt water too. Thanks all! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
wingnut 0 #8 August 18, 2005 QuoteI'll be washing it with salt water too non iodized sea salt... soak it for 10 minutes.... this is good to do every night on a new piercing....... if you canot fit your ear into a cup get a papertowl soaked with the salt water (saline) and let it sit on there for 10 minutes...... oh and the mixture is 1/4 teaspoon per 8 oz. of water...... i got the cartilige pierced in my ear a couple weeks ago and it is healing nicely!!! oh and for sizes... normal ear piercings are 18 or 20 gauge.... i got mine in 16.. nipples, tounge, belly button and eybrow are normally 14ga but some eyebrows are done in 16ga. all depends on the piercer... and please say you didn't get yours ear done with a gun..... piercing guns bad............needles much less injury to your ear ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"

He's a buddy of mine. Interesting thing is, out of a FJC class of about 15, Paul and I are the ONLY ones still around from our class. I was ahead of him in jump numbers for months, but when I stopped jumping back in March, he caught up and is wayyyy ahead of me now.~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
