We'll have to make a new calendar. "Firefighters that Skydive".

There's a few of you guys on this forum, actually...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd buy that... I'd even volunteer to take pictures of the two at our DZ.

There ya go. You're screwed Kev. Buy some nice BVD's and make sure your suspenders are in good repair.

I prefer the Oregon Coast/ Washington Coast surfer men than the pansy ass, warm water, small wave, baby shark avoiding Florida surfer men.
Out here the water is 52 degrees, the average size of the waves during "the season" are greater than 10 ft to 15 ft and the Great White Sharks come looking for the abundant elephant seal populations.
Hell even the sufer chicks here are tough, but unfortuneatly we do not get tans.. we have to just rust. But we do know how to warm ourselves at the end of the day.:)

I love this part of it:)
"Surfwise, Oregon's got it all. If the state was relocated to a warmer part of the world, it would rival Southern California in its variety of beaches and surf. Alas, (and thankfully), it's no California; although its waves and beaches are the most accessible of any state in the country, the fact ins, it's Oregon. The water's cold, there are lots of snappy white sharks, the wind and rain are intense (especially during surf seasons), and swells are often generated by storms so near to shore that it's hard to make it out through the short-period waves. Still, on a good day, surfing in Oregon can be as fun and rewarding as surfing anywhere in the world."

<~~~ fat and proud

Lets have a belly contest!

A "post your (not so) beautiful belly" thread? LOL - I'd probably do that, though I doubt I'd win. I'm more of a puffed up middleweight than a true heavyweight.

Little too cold for me. My bottom limit on that is around 60.

WUSSIE;)

Hey it builds character... and.. well at least this way.. the best spots do not get Californicated.:D

My all time favorite is a rock reef just to the south of Newport OR.. in the winter when the big swells roll down out of the Gulf of Alaska we would take the boat out across the bar swing to the south around the end of the reef and anchor inside. You are a mile or so off shore and can catch the 20+ footers. Man.. what a rush.
Actually up here in the winter the water is warmer than it is in summer when the upwelling is bringing the cold stuff from down deep.

So how about it men? Why do you let yourself get out of shape? Why do you not stay in shape or get in shape? (This of course does not apply to all men. I know a few personally who are dedicated to being in shape.)

Because you don't need to be in a good shape, to be a good skydiver.
Skydiving is more about bodycontroll, not strength, or even much fitness.
Surfing is also about bodycontroll, but much more about strength and fitness.

Beside, riding a 12 ft. wave is a much greater thrill than just hopping out of an airplane...and I really love jumping out of planes. ;)

Oh...and getting wiped out of a 12 ft. is also a greater thrill, than a multiple linetwists (at least on my 190 ft², hehe).

Surfer > Skydiver

No no no, people, jeez....balance, then fitness, and certain muscles (mainly core balance muscles) have to be toned. Lifting wieghts isnt going to get you the 'kind' of muscles you need for surfing, for instance.

Balance board, skateboarding, balance push ups, situps, swimming are all going to get you in shape for surfing.

Skydiving involves a different kind of balancing act but it still requires balance...just in another sense. Youre using your bodys mass and volume to balance yourself in a 120 mph wind as opposed to shifting your weight towards your center of gravity.

Nah the dive is from 13500

The measured Kilometer is from about 8900 ft to 5500 ft..

You pull out of the dive... you slow down.. you deploy... about 3k to 2500ft

No problem... the G's are KEWL:)

Hmm let me see if the foot locker with the leather and toys is easily accessible.
