gravitysucks 0 #27 August 19, 2005 Maybe becuase if I go surfing/snowboarding/whatever one or two times, I can wear the clothes and go "yeah, bra, I'm a surfer" and talk the talk but not walk the walk. There's alot of posers out there that just watch the videos but never take a drop in the pipe or catch a 6' wave.
BillyVance 35 #28 August 20, 2005 QuoteQuoteCause we are all out of shape, fat, booze guzzling, drug induced, bi sexual, animal fucking, dodo heads. Who'd be interested in that? Well when you put it that way, I'm surprised that MTV hasn't made a reality show about skydivers. Yeah, instead, MTV's making a reality show about a high school football team in Hoover, AL this fall... High school?? HIGH SCHOOL??? We don't need no stinkin' high school football on MTV!?!?!? SkiD_PL8 0 #30 August 20, 2005 QuoteQuoteMoney. Surfing, motocross and skateboarding are more marketable than skydiving. It's easier to sell the surfer/skater lifestyle and accouterments that go along with it than it would be for skydiving. The X games came to LA and it was basically one huge marketing machine designed to sell, sell, and sell. Even if skydiving was a spectator sport, the cost would keep out the pimple faced teenage crowd which some sports need in order to become huge. What parent would be willing to pluck down 2K+ in order for their kid to go through training and then throw down at least 3K for gear. And we havent even mentioned how dangerous skydiving is. 3K nothin' dude, if Im jumping out of a plane I want the 4-5K gear. Spend another 2K to stay alive. 5K, too expensive for most people. You can surf and skate all day without spending a dime (well, ok, beer and pizza, but thats beside the point)More expensive does not mean safer. You can find that 5k rig for sale in the classifieds for probably 4k with only a few jumps on it anyway. Just thought I would clear that up for you. Greenie in training.
