skydiver30960 0 #27 August 21, 2005 Know what, ma man? You got dat right. About my life in general: starting a new career, going back to school, got me a good woman, volunteering in Fire/Rescue, it's all good. I'm gonna hit 31 years old in a couple months, but when I think about people my age who whine about not being 18 any more all I can think about is how empty my life was then compared to now. Wouldn't go back for the world. About skydiving in particular: Last weekend I made 19 skydives, and got paid for every one of them. I did 12 on Sunday, tieing my personal record for most jumps in a day (ahhh, the joys of not packing!). But what set Sunday apart was the sheer number of people who said the same thing: "you have the greatest job!". One girl in particular, once we got under canopy, all she could say was "duuuuuude, duuuuuude, duuuuuude," and then "you have the BEST FUCKING JOB in the WORLD." So often, in pursuit of the bigger formation, the cooler hybrid, or the faster swoop, we forget just what we're doing, how free we are. It's that way with tandems too, especially when they get cranking on the busy days. But that's one of the things I love about being a TI, once in a while the student reminds you just what an incredible thing a skydive is, and how lucky we are to be able to do it all day long. Elvisio "thanks for the misty-eyed moment, Rev!" Rodriguez
