DrewEckhardt 0 #26 August 22, 2008 Quote Question for those around before tuck tabs. What did all the early FREESTYLE jumpers jump with? The same gear that caused premature deployments. Skydiving ran a great shot of a freestylist tangled up in her canopy, with the article saying something about broken bones and/or dislocated joints. While lots of people get away with doing things before we know better, too many don't. After that you're better off learning from second hand experience. diablopilot 2 #27 August 22, 2008 QuoteAwesome - if there is someone who actually has some useful info then that would be great. Mods? If you have 100 jumps and even less of a clue than I, then keep it to yourself - your posts exceed your number of jumps by 17 times... I'm cracking up over here! Thanks! 8000 jumps, 10 years in the sport, 5 years in gear sales, and just short of finishing a riggers ticket. I say no, it's not safe by current standards for freefly. Any more questions?---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
AggieDave 6 #28 August 22, 2008 QuoteThere is not mod available to have Magnetic Riser covers to a sport Vector (I, 2, or 3). The only mod available is for the Sigmas. Couldn't a master rigger just do a mod anyways?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

peek 21 #30 August 22, 2008 QuoteQuestion for those around before tuck tabs. What did all the early FREESTYLE jumpers jump with? Good question! Tamara Koyn did freestyle with a Vector 1. She made sure the Velcro was in good condition. The only flap I recall her commenting on was the reserve flap hitting her on the head. That is why she made sure the reserve loop was short and tight. If her riser covers ever came open, the toggles stayed in place because back then they used Velcro to hold them in place, and she made sure the Velcro was in good condition. diablopilot 2 #32 August 22, 2008 Hey, it's less than 2:1! Surely I have enough experience for that level of "post loading" by now, and if not, my "natural talent" will make up for it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. fcajump 164 #33 August 27, 2008 Quote Hi All - Is the Vector original container system ok for freeflying? photo attached. Please send PM! Thanks! -M 1000+ jumps on Vector 1 and Vector 2s To answer your quest, it is NOT freefly friendly. While the early folks did use it, we (the industry) learned from injuries and deaths of some of the early folks. Hence the Vector 3 (and most of the rest of the current market of rigs). Question is, do you want to: - personally re-learn the lessons of the early freefliers, - invest in modern equipment for freefly, or - use a well maintained/good condition Vector 2 for its designed purpose (belly flying/crew)? Your choice. JW Always remember that some clouds are harder than others...

Replace the velcro all you want and it's still coming open if you are doing any acrobatic type moves. A sit is not freeflying, it's a position. Good luck Question for those around before tuck tabs. What did all the early FREESTYLE jumpers jump with? Javelins came open too. Their original tuck tabs were horrible. To answer your question is... people used what they had on their backs. After enough problems occured, changes were made. Some problems included minor to very severe injuries. Good times. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
