boogie reasons

Recommended Posts

Ok, why go to one ?

New/different aircraft.
Jump with new people.
Hang out with new people.
Demo gear.
Seminars and conversations with experts.

I can stay home and do almost any jump that I want from excellent aircraft with a great group of skydivers. I go to boogies to do most of the above.

There are people that I see twice a year. At a boogie and at home during the winter.

I get into conversations with experts and learn an amazing amount of stuff.

A lot of the dz.commers that I have met, I met at WFFC.

Skydiving isn't just about one thing for me.

main reason for me is to go and jump with and hang out with friends i have made..... there are some skydives at boogies that just don't happen at my home dz and that is a big thing, besides, it is either hang out and jump with the same people at my home dz or go to a boogie and meet new people, and make some diffrent skydives...... exotic or fun aircraft help and a big party isn't bad either, but i'd say it's mainly for the people, the ones i know and the ones i'm gona meet!!!

First and formost for me, I go for the people. Old friends that I only see at boogies, and to make new ones. Second is the actual jumping. This year's WFFC, for example, the partying was epic, but the jumping...well, I made 4 jumps, mostly because I was FREAKIN BROKE, but I still went, for the people. The ONLY reason I got those four jumps is that they were free... for me.
I also got the privledge of jumpmastering/spotting a Carvair, Fat Annie. See, coming from a little Cessna 182 DZ has its' advantages, like actually KNOWING how to spot!

My jumps, Fat Annie. If I rode up, I could jump out, or ride down. I only jumped the first load. The rest I rode down. Those that were on those loads I JM'd after the first know why..... (by the way, anyone got any video and/or stills of me sitting in the door, freezing my ass off for upwards of a hour?)
Second jump; Hot Air balloon/wedding. My slot was covered for the wedding, and after performing the ceremony, I was able to toss myself overboard.
Third jump: DC3. No, I DIDN'T SPOT! That was my Carvair job, not my Southern Cross job! :P Ticket was given to me, or I still wouldn't have her in my log book.
4th jump: Biplane. Thanks again....HUGE thanks, to Shane. That's 2fat2fly here, for GIVING me that slot, WITH PICTURES! Shane, my friend, you have enough karma to last several people's lifetimes! Oh, and thanks for speaking up about the injection shots....

So, people are #1 for boogies, and special rides are #2. If I had a shit load more money, jumping my ass off would be #3. It will be in the future also!
It's your life, live it!

I am right there with you Bill.

I usually go to see specific people and make a few jumps with them.

I also like going places with a group. Lots of fun. Have not done that in a long time though.

Laters,
