Anyone been there recently? yes
What can you tell me about it? cheap and beautiful
I hear it is absolutely THE place to go. indeed
Beautiful city, yes if you like culture and history
kick ass night life, YES :)
and everything is cheap by US Standards. very cheap
Are there Absynthe bars there? yes there are, but their absinth is not worth our absinth

Girls are beautiful and VERY friendly too...
If you want a typical drink get Becherovka, very good digestive.
Don't be afraid of their food... Lots of salt/sugar mixes, like meat with cream (chantilly style)... Their meat can seem strange but it's part of their culture (like pork knees)...
Have fun, stay safe... Avoid taxis.

I'll be there from the 15th to the 21st of July... I heard through the grapevine that there's gonna be a pink skyvan boogie the first week of August, but looks like I'm just gonna miss it.

But hey, as my grandma says: "Co užijem mit budem za sto let tu nebudem!" or something... Along the lines of "Live it up now because in 100 years you won't be here!" (Apologies to all Czechs and/or Slovaks I've offended by probably completely butchering your beautiful language.)

Oh, and PS: It's the Czech Republic these days. ;)

I'll miss both. [:/] I'm thinking of stopping there on my way back to Iraq at the end of the month. The flight there is free so I would be stupid not to take advantage of it. I think I'll LIVE IT UP NOW! :D

Ha, there you are you filthy scum....

Clay...

Hotels: Really cheap and really good is the Hotel Patty Apart It's 4 star but independent so my brothers and I paid $100/night for a suite. Very decent!

Historic Taverns: U Fleku You must go there. The beer (brewed on premisses) is outstanding. The food is great and there is live local music every night. When you enter do not go to the main beer hall but go to the room to the left (you will have to pass through the kitchen, but its a local habit), that is where the locals sit and where the atmosphere is real!

Happening Bars: The Oyster Bar below the Pravda restaurant on Parizskastreet. A bit expensive...but you'll like it.

Definitely see the Old Town Hradcany(duuuh!) the cafe's on the Mala Strana, the Jewish part of town (a block away from Parizska).

I have a few friends there so if you want more info send me a PM

Trent and I were there several Christmas' ago. It is a great city with a friendly, young population. I know he would go back if he got the chance! I felt out of place because everyone seemed to be in their 20's.

Food is different...not bad, just different. Wines and beers are good. Home of the real Budweiser!!!

Blue skies,

Jim

LOVE IT! One of my favorite cities, and I was only there for 1.5 days. If you're a Kafka fan it's extra-cool. B|

Man I have got to get back to Europe. I miss it. [:/]

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

Hmmmm...................after doing a bit of research on hotels looks like I can get the best bang for buck at the Hilton. It's 120EUR/$145 per night but being that I am a DIAMOND member I get free space A upgrades. B| Plus it's walking distance from EVERYTHING. Pretty PIMP ASS hotel. Even has a climbing wall on premise. :D

I turned in my leave paperwork a few days ago. I'll be chillin in Prague for a week in August. Who wants to go? B|

Did somebody say "Prague" and "Dropzone" in the same sentence? I would like to know more.

Karlovy Vary sits between Prague and Eger (Cheb) which is one of the border towns on the Czech/German border. If I remember right, it is right about an hour from each.

Outside of the town proper is the airport, which is where Pete Marsden holds his Pink Boogies in the first week of August.
