yardhippie 0 #1 August 29, 2005 Ok, Im gettin ready to get some new/more gadgets. This is what Im after and the parameters: A radar detector not top of the line, but reliable, and functional. A digital camera with decent picture, small, skydiver friendly (its ok if it gets bumped once and a while), easy to use w/ a computer, and not really pricey. I realize this is a bit vague, but hey, im a skydiver and Im lazy. Skydiver-friendly as in you want to jump with it or skydiver-friendly as in it can take some abuse being passed around the bonfire by drunk people who might drop it now and again?"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. yardhippie 0 #3 August 29, 2005 I have plans for a still camera, so no, I will not be jumping with it, but I would like it to survive a few nights at the bonfire!Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
Frenchy68 0 #4 August 30, 2005 I'm thinking of buying a cool gadget I saw in the Paragear catalog. It's a reserve handle/cable that, once exposed to fire, stiffens and can be used as a cattle prod. The cool thing is that it's built so that you can actually pull the handle without the reserve deploying, which obviously saves on a repack. And nowadays, it is hard to find a cattle prod when you need one. Good investment if you ask me. NWFlyer 2 #5 August 30, 2005 I really like the Canon Elph - I picked up a 3.2 megapixel one (which is totally fine for most basic stuff) for under $200 last year. It's teeny and takes great photos. Edited to add all of the photos on my photo site (with the exception of my childhood photos, which were scanned in) were taken using it."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. yardhippie 0 #6 August 30, 2005 Woah! REserve handle, no reserve pop, AND a cattle prod!? Thats sweet. Have you done any jumps with it?Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
Trae 1 #7 August 30, 2005 in reply to'And nowadays, it is hard to find a cattle prod when you need one. Good investment if you ask me.' You can have my cattle prod goin' cheap ....+ its only been used on pigs & dogs. (it's a bit bitten) This makes a fine DZ toy/walking stick as drunken skydivers think it's a reserve handle and automatically want to touch it. Can be attached to an electric suit for those times when you sleep at the fire and don't want to be touched while snoring. And you're right it was an excellent investment. where can you get more of that absinthe ? Hazy Kerazy
