>:(:) Guess who's coming to visit?

I'm heading up there this weekend with a girlfriend and her boyfriend. We're going to be in the Toronto area. Any suggestions on what to see? The trip is going to be short - arrive early evening on Friday and leave mid-afternoon on Sunday.

Jumping may or may not happen since the trip is so short.

Sorry, not much to do up here unless you are into snow activities. Make sure you bring a warm winter jacket and a scarf. Will you be renting a skidoo for transportation or do you have snow shoes? You may also want to consider renting a sled dog team for cheap transportation. Make sure to try some of our poutine (fries, gravy and cheese). I hope you like hockey and beer because thats "aboot" all there is to do here.:P

Q. Why do birds sing?

:D pssstt....if you look at latitude and longitude, you'll see that I'm technically further north than Toronto. So...since the "Land of the Frozen Tundra" hasn't yet frozen, I think I'm pretty safe without snow stuff. :P:D

Ooh, I love Toronto! Good thing I married AndyMan. ;)

There are some really nice neighbo(u)rhoods up there...two of my favo(u)rites are:

The Beaches - Lots of fun little shops up and down Queen Street (if you want a great burger, stop in at Licks), but the best part is, of course, the beach/park.

Queen Street West - Fun, hip, kind of reminds me of Wicker Park in Chicago.

The toronto.com website is a pretty good resource for things happening in TO. Have fun, eh! :)

Just got back yesterday from two weeks in lake country north of Toronto. The weather was perfect. Shorts and t-shirt during the day and maybe a long sleeve shirt at night.

Get out of the city, Canada is beautiful.

I saw Cirque last Saturday in Toronto.

Can you believe they had a midget tied to helium balloons and they tossed her out into the audience? She'd slowly fall to the ground and then people would push her back up again.

(and no, I'm not lying about seeing the show OR the midget)

that midget-with-balloons bit was hilarious! we were too far back to get in on the action though. didn't get the puppet show bit, but the bouncy beds thing was cool. the giant hoops, the guy with the ladder and the 8-way high bar routine near the end were all pretty amazing as well. good show overall. Smart ass! Yes, they let me in. I'm waiting for pics to be developed.

Crossed the border Friday evening and used my passport for the first :D time. B| They didn't stamp it though. :( Got some funny money - aka Canadian money. :D I apparently was amusing as I'm looking at it and asking a ton of questions of Susie (who's Canadian) about the currency.

Got into Toronto at 8:30pm, freshened up a bit, and went to her mom's 50th surprise birthday party. Was there until the wee hours of the morning and then went back to the hotel and crashed. Got up and spent a few minutes bs'ing with her parents and then we were off to go to Coboconk and spend the evening there.

On the drive up, we drove past the Baldwin DZ (didn't have time to stop, however). Got to the cabin (on 125 acres of land) and found out that we'd be crashing in a trailer (4 of us) with her parents in the main cabin. No pluming so we had an outhouse to use and jugs of water so that we could clean, do dishes, etc. Needless to say, showers waited until we were back in the city. :D

Had an absolutely awesome time wandering the woods and relaxing at the cabin. We had a fire, enjoyed a nice dinner, and just had an all around relaxing time.

Oh...I got to try poutine. That was really good! I need to make some for mom. B|

On Sunday we headed back to the city as I was supposed to be at the border at 3pm to make my flight. Took a shower at her aunt's and uncle's (sweet people) and took off to the border. Got to the border at 4:15pm and of course, the border was slow. :S:D Got to the airport in time to see my flight take off. So my friends sweetly offered to drive me back to Midway airport (IL) from Buffalo airport (NY) instead of having me stay in NY for the evening and try and get another flight.

So...off we go. We made it from Buffalo airport to Midway airport in 9 hours and from Midway, I made it to my work in 45 minutes. Now...normally, it's a longer drive but....errr....traffic was wonderful. (Yeah...that's it. :$)

I definitely need to go back when I have time to see more sights instead of just a quick drive through downtown Toronto. Plus, I want to spend more time up north and enjoy the woods. B|
