birdlike 0 #1 August 8, 2008 Hi, My AAD (CYPRES2) is past due date for a new battery or service or whatever it is they do. (I haven't jumped in about a year.) I know I of course need a repack and a good gear inspection, and I need that CYPRES2 service (which I am told will take my rig from me for at least several weeks?). DO I have the OPTION of jumping a rig with an out-of-date AAD, and just not turning it on? Or is it legally required that I have it in-service if it is installed in my rig? Thanks for your help.Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
birdlike 0 #2 August 8, 2008 Also, about how long should I expect to lose the rig; and what's involved in the servicing they'll be doing; and how much will it cost?Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
mr2mk1g 10 #3 August 8, 2008 If it's installed, it has to be maintained in accordance with manufacturer's instructions - which means you have to hit the service and battery replacement timescales given by Airtec. Getting it serviced though doesn't involve loosing your rig - just your cypres. You can always jump without it. Some places can even rent you one if you desperately want one. councilman24 37 #4 August 8, 2008 Cypres service usually takes 10 business days at SSK plus shipping there and back. Less than 3 calendar weeks from where I'm at. I often send the cypres out, pack the rig for the customer to jump, and reinstall the cypres when it comes back without a complete new I&R and for free. SSK did/does have a rental program also. birdlike 0 #5 August 9, 2008 Thanks, you guys. I haven't been at this long enough to have had to do this before, so I didn't know except for roughly what had to happen. I thought I had to send the rig out. Very cool that I can jump it without the CYPRES if need be. I'm not afraid of doing so any more than I'd be "afraid" to drive around town without my seatbelt on. I just think it unwise and since I paid $1000 for the thing, might as well have it functioning! Gonna get on it soon, now that my USPA renewal got here in record time!Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
