jmidgley 0 #1 September 5, 2005 Hi I'm selling my bike on ebay at the moment - it's due to finish in a few hours. Not having sold on ebay before, I'm puzzled that there are 39 people watching, and no bids. What's that about? If I've priced it too high, I'd have thought they'd just move on. Anyway, admire my bike! John
lisamariewillbe 1 #2 September 5, 2005 Very normal, what will happen is they will bid in the last minute , hoping to not have the price drawn up to highSudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this

Mike111 0 #4 September 5, 2005 I'm puzzled that there are 39 people watching, and no bids. What's that about? Quote im guessing that is because they are waiting for someone to start the Bid, to see if they can get it at a cheaper price, or when a bid is made then see if they still want it - they aren't committing themselves until they really want to if you see what i mean. or it could be because some are just looking out of interest, and are maybe looking into getting a bike but are for now getting an idea of the market or how things run on ebay. Another guess - youll probably get a lto of bids in these last hours because the potential customers then have to decide for sure and will thus start putting the bids through as the time runs out. Nice Bike, id be very surprised if it didnt sell.
 Kris 0 #5 September 5, 2005 I sold my '02 Suzuki GSX-R 600 on eBay last year. I set a reserve of $3500, started the bidding at $3000. I was starting to get really worried when there were no bids, but an hour before close, they started tumbling in, and it finally went for $4300. There were two bidders in the last 45 seconds who battled it up from $3700. Not a bad price for a bike with a salvage title and some plastic damage.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
 mr2mk1g 10 #6 September 5, 2005 Yes, very normal behavior. It's called "sniping". You can probably find out more than you'd ever want to know about the tactic by googling the term. People won't bid till the last 30 seconds if they're serious. People who bid earlier simply drive the price up. If you're not happy with the bike going for the price it currently is, withdraw it and put a reserve on it (or up the start price). IIRC you're allowed to as there've been no bids yet. I'm not saying it won't go for a lot more than it's currently listed for – it might well double or triple in price in the last 5 minutes... but then maybe no one will be at all and someone will pick up a bargain for not a lot more than it is now. Point is, you won't know till it's too late to do anything about it. At the end of the day it's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it - and £1,600 will make a modest dent in an Aerodyne Icon...
