kalaniwavo 0 #1 August 5, 2008 alright, so I've been looking for a couple months for a rig that would fit me 6'3' 195lbs. and I found this. I have 50 some jumps and have been jumping a Navigator 200. Container - Vector 2 19.5in MLW DOM 95' Reserve - Super Raven 190 DOM 95' AAD - Vigil DOM 2006 for $1750 I'm planning on finding a used 190 main for this rig. Does this sound like a decent first rig? Any advice, opinions, reccomendations, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Nick
AggieDave 6 #2 August 5, 2008 Do you really want to load your reserve around 1.18:1 on your first rig with 50 jumps? You might want to find something that gives you a better wingloading on your reserve. The Vector II isn't completely freefly friendly, if that was something you were thinking of pursuing.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." PhreeZone 20 #3 August 5, 2008 I'm 6'2" and my 20 inch MLW is about as small as I would want to jump. Have you been measured for a new harness yet? If not get measured and call the manufactor to see what size MLW they would recommend you get. You might find you need a 21 or that anything over a 18 would fit your body type. The container is not idea for freefly so keep that in mind if you are looking to go down that path ever.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
kalaniwavo 0 #4 August 6, 2008 The Super Raven is actually a 210. typo.. oops Also, the guy said the rig has been free fly freindly modified. Is modifying a rig to free fly freindly on par with a rig designed for free flying? Are there any special considerations? Thanks! Nick
AggieDave 6 #5 August 6, 2008 The only mod that I've ever seen for a Vector 2 was an elastic band under the top flap to hold the main pin flap down a little better. Its a piece of gum in a leaking dam. Sure it makes you feel better, but did it really fix anything? FF safe rigs have been around for quite some time now, there are a ton of them available used. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with a Vector2, I put a lot of jumps on one, but just understand the limitations of the rig before you buy it. A 210 reserve sounds much better. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
