dorkzone.com?

Recommended Posts

Why is this board referred to as dorkzone.com?

Here's one example to illustrate why: There are probably more threads on here about Frenchy's goggles than there are about RSLs or AADs......:|

That would be my guess.

Or it could be all the "I'm leaving the sport!" or "Goodbye DZ.COM" threads..........:|

Lisa asked a question, why the board (as a whole, not a specific forum) was referred to as dorkzone.com. My opinion was/is (as I attempted to illustrate in my first response) was that this site as a whole, does contain a tremendous amount of "dorky" (just using a word that keeps with the theme of the question) banter on it, and at times there appears to be more dorky than legitimate skydiving threads.

dorkzone.com or not, I still like coming here because, aside from all the "Frenchy's goggles" type threads, there is still also alot of good skydiving specific threads in some of the other forums.

And who knows, someday if I decide to give up the sport and go back to playing golf, I too, may decide to annouce it the board in bonfire, it will probably read like this:

"I QUIT! WHERE ARE MY GOLF CLUBS? (PLEASE TALK ME OUT OF IT, OKAY?)" :|

Okay, I said I'd reserve my comments until I'd heard from other people. Reservation over.

I laughed when I heard it because in many ways it's true; lots of us are pretty dorky at times! Some of the dorks that post here are my closest friends; they've helped me out emotionally and financially in times of need, made me laugh when I needed to, pissed me off on occasion. Some of the dorks that post here I wouldn't want to argue with but I'd be happy to jump and hang out with. I've met many, many of you dorks in person because of this website; like Deuciepoo said in another thread it's good to connect with people..

The other ways it could be taken are more negative. The arguing over nitpicky stuff (yes, I'm guilty of it too!), the Bonfire-esque noise in the topical forums that sometimes threatens to overtake the signal, the whining that sometimes occurs, the way some of us sometimes take things waaaaay too personally... all can be called dorky, not in the good way.

So have you read this entire thread? You have? What a dork you are. :P

No personal attacks here!

You gonna ban me for it? Huh? Are ya? C'mon, I dare ya! I don't think you have the huevos to ban me, ya freakin' Canadian dork-eh!

Note - I'll be heading to work in the next hour, so if you could wait 60 minutes to do it and then keep the ban to about eight hours it'd work into my schedule (and probably please my boss) just fine.

Well, I just made post 1000... I think that qualifies me as a dork... Yup, pretty sure that does it....

Oh, please, you're just a 1000-post wonder. You don't even know what you don't know yet! ;)
