Need help finding a painting

Can't remember who painted it or the name but I figure someone here will remember the name if I describe it.
It is a old painting portrait of a couple who have been married. They are standing side by side and in the middle behind them is the doorknob. Here is the cool part if you look in the small doorknob you can see the back reflection of the couple and the guy painting.

I'm not sure but it sounds like Salvidor Dali.

You're probably referring to the Arnolfini Portrait'. It is similar to what you are referring but it isn't a doorknob, it is a round decorative mirror. Dali is more a modern art mix.

Very cool to see the mirror that close. Weird though, it doesn't look much like an artist working. More like a woman in a blue dress. I was in London a few year's ago...it is usually at the Tate, but it wasn't there while I was and wanted to see it. I would imagine that the detail is the best part about it and have heard tour guides compare Renoir to him.

It is supposed to be a representation of their relationship or bond, rather than their marriage. Funny how you see the station of the cross surrounding what is supposed to be a picture of the artist...directly between them...considering it was the artists idea to put himself there and knowing the full representation. Very provocative indeed. Sorry...museum studies is the next thing on my list.

That picture was on tour in Boston a number of years ago and my art history class in HS attended. Its a fascinating picture because of the detail, but you really have to look close to see it.

One day I'd like to have the money to have a few replicatoins in my house - they really are beautiful.
