NWFlyer 2 #26 September 16, 2005 <---- the little girl in that picture was painfully shy. No one believes me (and I mean NO ONE) but she's still in there sometimes, especially when everything and everyone is new. There were a few times on my multi-DZ road trip earlier this summer where I'd walk in from the parking lot and want to walk right back out because it was big and new and overwhelming. But lemme tell you about Byron... within 15 seconds of walking in, this guy had walked up to me and said "Hi I'm Q who are you and why aren't you on a load yet?" (or something like that, vintage Q). Before long, I was on a load, chatting with Mad John about a mutual friend, his old jumping buddy adn one of my favorite instructors. All the DZ.com regulars who were around that day found me (or I found them). You'll be feeling the Byron Love so fast you're going to want to wash your hands! So if you're feeling overwhelmed, come find me (I look just a bit older than I do in my avatar )... we'll do some RW, I'll funnel the exit, we'll laugh about it on the ground... good times. Look forward to meeting you!"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. VanillaSkyGirl 6 #30 September 16, 2005 Evelyn, I told Gia a while ago to look out for you at the Byron Boogie. I didn't need to do that, though. You know that Gia is a wonderful, nurturing person. She will watch over you, as will other friends of yours, like Frenchy and Dom. Also, Deuce really is a sweetheart of a man. Please don't worry, ok? You have many friends that will be there. Have fun, Evelyn! Edited: QuoteOn another note, I hear that buying a short person a bottle of high-end tequila is rumored to cure shyness. Hey Evelyn, I am shorter than Vinny, so maybe you should buy me the tequila! Just kidding...

Girlfalldown 0 #45 September 16, 2005 QuoteSilly Amazon, like Evelyn is going to go for the numbers.... I won't even do the numbers... Well y'all aren't going to believe this but I used to be one of the shyest people EVER! I barely talked. Some people just thought I a bitch or something but in truth I was just so painfully shy that I was afraid anything I'd say or do would be stupid and people would know me for the complete idiot that I am. I would NEVER even THINK of doing a naked skydive or flashing or, god forbid, lay naked on the numbers with a bunch of people! No way! That's crazy talk! That was 3 years ago. Then something changed. I met some of the coolest people I've ever met before. They became like the family I never had. We got goofy. Did silly things, got a little crazy and then one day in the heat of summer someone said hey, lets do a naked jump! My friend Alana said Shannon would never do it but for some reason it just seemed right and I said sure! It was some of the silliest fun I've ever had in my life! The feeling in the air was just...well, how do I describe it? I don't know how to describe it because I was grinning ear to ear and so was everyone else. It's an experience you can't describe really. We landed and at that point I really didn't care that I was naked anymore. We all walked into the hanger with our canopies sort of covering us and no one really cared. They just giggled. We all got dressed and that was that. The smile didn't go away for days! Since then nudity hasn't been that big of a deal anymore. Don't get me wrong, we don't run around naked but there are times when the entire dropzone is out naked on the numbers and if you're the one clothed you feel awkward and out of place until you take your clothes off and join in the giggling fun! It's not sexual in any way. It's just a bunch of people in their birthday suits giggling their asses off and running out to lay on the numbers. We're all fat, skinny, lumpy, wrinkled and imperfect and it just doesn't matter! So Gia, Evelyn, never say never! No one has to do it but everyone that does ends up laughing so hard about it later and I dont think anyone's ever been embarrassed about it. It isn't for everyone, sort of like skydiving, but sometimes you just gotta join in the fun to see what it is you're missing. The fun part is the next day when you're sitting in the hangar and you look around and realize you've seen every single person in the hanger naked. -------------- (Do not, I repeat DO NOT, take my posts seriously.) GiaKrembs 0 #46 September 16, 2005 HA... I'm not against it, and I think it's great!!! Last year I didn't even realize it was going on until afterward. I am definately loosening up... the Prairie boogie video will prove that... baby steps for me though and I think I've met my quota with Prairie. g Raddest ho this side of Jersey #1 - rest in peace brother Beth lost her cherry and I missed it .... you want access to it, but you don't want to break it. Evelyn 0 #48 September 16, 2005 I had no idea what Jeanne was talking about and I was afraid to ask for fear of sounding really stupid. Thanks for explaining it.
