boinky 0 #1 September 18, 2005 I've not taken a single jump in 89 days, when I was in Texas visiting in June. I HAVE to take a jump today to stay current. Obviously $20 is better than $140 for a jump (If I had to do a recurrency jump). Due to a lot of issues in my life this year, I've gained a ton of weight. My jumpsuit doesn't fit. Hell, my rig barely fits. Plus, it's always been a bit big in the shoulders and pushes into my arms. Very uncomfortable. The good news is that I fly a 170 main (not my CRW canopy), so wing loading won't be an issue. But, I may try to borrow student gear that has a better fitting harness and an even larger canopy size. I definitely believe that bigger is better in canopies when you're new or not current. Laugh at me if you want to, but when I quit my job to move to Texas, I lost my health insurance. So, I can't afford to be injured. Yeah, yeah, I know...I take this risk every day just walking. It's predicted to be between 95 and 100 degress with winds around 9. Beats the hell out of the no-wind 90'ish degree June. Winds are my friend! Needless to say, I am more than a little nervous. Wish me luck and I'll update you tonight. According to USPA rules, you have to jump at least once every 90 days to stay current.
