kallend 2,196 #27 September 20, 2005 QuoteOk, this has always been one of my favorite albums, but I haven't listened to it in a few years because I only have it on vinyl and I no longer have a turntable (hmm, I need to correct that problem!)... So I just felt an overwhelming urge to listen to some of the songs and couldn't wait to order the CD... So I went to Napster and bought my favorite songs from the album: "Waiting for the Worms," "Hey You," "One of My Turns," "Comfortably Numb," "The Thin Ice," "Mother," and "Nobody Home." Does anyone else love this album as much as I do??? And what are your favorite songs? Run Like Hell... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. JohnMitchell 16 #28 September 20, 2005 QuoteShe told me that when I was a Child my Father (a HUGE Pink Floyd fan) would always put on "Dark side of the Moon" when it was my nap time. I had absolutely no recollection of this but it suddenly made since why to this day, If you put on a Pink Floyd Album, I will fall asleep. Did you always wake up when the alarm clocks go off at the beginning of "Time"?
skybytch 273 #29 September 20, 2005 QuoteDoes anyone else love this album as much as I do??? Oh yeah. I used to say that was the only album I could listen to regardless of my current mental state - straight, drunk, high, didn't matter. QuoteAnd what are your favorite songs? I blame Another Brick in the Wall part 2 for my less than stellar high school career. But Young Lust and Comfortably Numb top my list of favorites from that album. Animals is another really, really good album.
dunesurfer 0 #30 September 20, 2005 I have been hooked on that album since it was released. I was also lucky enough to see the concert in LA in 1980. (sheesh..... now I DO feel old) My favorite track would have to be "Empty Spaces"
funks 1 #31 September 20, 2005 I think that album completely sucks. Way way too depressing, listening to it for more than 5 minutes makes me want to stick a gun in my mouth and pull the trigger.

Remster 30 #33 September 20, 2005 QuoteThere's nothing like an "album" being just that. Being able to listen to it from the first to the last song. "The rise and fall of ZS..." is another one in my book. There are still "albums" being made. They just get less exposure. I cant beleive it... a post from Frenchy that makes sense in Bonfire... I really dont know what to say...Remster
SudsyFist 0 #34 September 20, 2005 QuoteDoes anyone else love this album as much as I do??? YES!!! And the film is pretty damn magnificent, as well. But, Deary, you need to listen to the whole album. It's like The Downward Spiral or Disintegration; you can't just pick and choose songs! QuoteAnd what are your favorite songs? "Don't Leave Me Now" is my personal favorite. The pain is so well captured in the dichotomy of the lyrics, along with the dissonance of the organ chords. EDIT: QuoteNine Inch Nails' (Trent Reznor's) "The Downward Spiral" was like that - tells a story and worth listening to from beginning to end. STOP IT! I really have to pee! StreetScooby 5 #35 September 20, 2005 Has anyone ever tried to cue up with "Wizard of Oz" (with no sound on) with "The Wall"? I hear the matchup is pretty unbelievable. We are all engines of karma

Yes, apparently they have. I used to listen to that album when I was a depressed teenager. -Yeah, I'd have to agree with the above...if you weren't gonna pull the trigger, listening to that album while drunk and depressed might just push you over. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. Shotgun 1 #39 September 20, 2005 QuoteBut, Deary, you need to listen to the whole album. It's like The Downward Spiral or Disintegration; you can't just pick and choose songs! My attention span has declined to the point where I can't listen to a whole album at once anymore, so I just picked out my favorite songs. And I've listened to it from beginning to end so many times that I think I pretty much know the story by now. Quote"Don't Leave Me Now" is my personal favorite. That's a good one... caress 0 #42 September 20, 2005 My husband and I love Pink Floyd. We really enjoy The Wall very much. If you are an aol subscriber, you can go to music to Pink Floyd, then at one time you could watch video of Pink Floyd performing comfortably numb live.(at live aid 8) I stuck a favorite to it and stuck it on my toolbar so I can see it when ever I want. I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.
BillyVance 35 #43 September 20, 2005 Didn't the engineering students at MIT once steal a campus safety car, disassemble it, and reassemble it on the roof of one building years ago? Might they have been inspired by these songs or something? Dougiefresh 0 #44 September 20, 2005 "Look mummy, there's an aeroplane up in the sky." I just love how innocent and dark that is at the same time. There is no bad floyd. Just floyd for different moods, seasons, and chemical states.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams

shropshire 0 #47 September 20, 2005 I just love Floyd's music ever since the first concert that I every went to ..... tempretired 0 #48 September 20, 2005 Not a big fan of The Wall. Probably because I didn't like the movie. Every time I tried to watch it there was another annoying person watching it trying to explain what the hell was happening. However, "Wish You Were Here" and "Dark Side of the Moon" are two of my favorite albums. Head phones and Wish You Were Here beginning to end with a dark room and a strobe light is like taking trip to space and back. The Great Gig in the sky from Dark Side of the Moon is the best. EAerodyne 0 #49 September 20, 2005 One of the best Pink Floyd albums IMHO that is not very well known is "The Final Cut" Basically a protest of the Falklands war (1982 Britain against Argentina over the Falkland Islands) Of course the largest selling Pink Floyd Album of all time "Dark side of the moon" Isn't bad too! 4th & 5th tracks on "dark side of the moon" are all time classics..... many a person has left home and followed their dreams after listening to the lyrics of track 4 "Time" Evidently, "dark side of the moon" was at one point the largest selling LP in history.
