Dr. Kevorkian's Art

Recommended Posts

Those are just disturbing. I don't see how selling paintings like that make people think your a good doctor. In fact my fist thought was...... this guy is sick.

The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help’. ~Ronald Reagan

30,000,000 legal firearm owners killed no one yesterday.

WOW!!!! I want Very Still Life!!! *cough cough* new avatar!! bwahaha!!

Thanks for posting, I honestly never knew he was an artist..I love the work! :)
*Edited to remark on the previous post: It is art..not "Judge the Doctor". Regardless of who the artist is, it should be viewed with an open mind. Nearer My God to Thee is a marvelous depiction of how humanity feels about death. It is strong artwork at its best that makes people like you turn their heads. Did you ever study the art of Dali? He was the greatest Surrealist artist of all times; yet some would consider his artwork to be too dark / demented...but when you look into the relationships he used between objects in his work vs. the meanings each represented..it's brilliance at its best.

A closed mind is worth nothing at all.

I saw a talk he gave one time to (I think) the National Press Club that was later televised. He was quite interesting and, I believe, a very caring and dedicated person.

Nice avatar. ;)

I like Dali a lot too. One of my favorites of his is Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bumblebee around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening. It reminds me of the bizarre and extremely vivid dreams that I often have. (In fact, I have a journal with that picture on the cover, sitting next to my bed, and sometimes I write my dreams in it when I wake up.)

Not to get too far into analyzing, but that is an awesome painting to point out one of the symbols he uses throughout a lot of his work...The tigers actually go far to represent lust / desire / sexuality..animal instinct. If you study more of his art you will find that he uses them quite frequently. Another interesting symbol he seems to use quite a bit is the woman kneeling/bowing to man...a lot of times the man will have a hat in his hand holding it down around his 'nether' region...this has been said to represent the covering of an erection from the female - as if to hide his arousal. This in turn shows how Dali wanted the partner (woman) seen as the "Praying Mantis sort --if she notices the male's arousal, she will mate with him and then cannibalize him."

:D

I don't think he was sick. The paintings strike me as someone who is a true atheist and is mocking religion and emphasizing humanity's struggle with inevitable death.

Shotgun - if you ever find yourself in the Tampa/St Petersburg area, check out the Dali museum there. It is amazing!
Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

they certainly are interesting pieces, and they do indeed say alot about him as a person. also, the posting of these is very timely considering recent threads here. i thought the "risen" painting was pretty interesting... lots of symbolism there. can't say i agree w/ him, but i like how i he communicates his message. oft times art says so much more than words.

The only one of Dr. Kevorkian's works I had knowledge of was Christy - a friend of mine hen I was in college. Here is her story. [:/]

I have, however, seen some of John Wayne Gacy's art, but his artwork gives me the willies. Clowns are scary, regardless of whether they are painted by a murderous psychopath, right?

Apparently he's incredibly intelligent, so says my college roommate's sister.

I didnt, however, know that he was an artist as well...

I didn't know about him being a musician. I'll definitely check that out. I just had a quick look on Napster and they don't have anything (of course), but I'll find it somewhere else.

I have to first say, other than the obvious, I don't know much about the man.

But, in our nation exists the death penalty which takes away life, some believe for good reason. I think that taking away life for another reason, such as ending a person's suffering who genuinely wants to go, isn't a bad thing at all. Doesn't mean I'd want to do it, but it's like the guy in a fire surrounded by flames, knowing there's no escape and he will burn to death and decides to take out his gun and shoot himself instead for a less painful way to go. I mean, it's suicide, but is it? Is the Dr. a killer? It's been debated.

Above all, I try not to judge. Thank goodness I dont' have to and leave that to God. Unless I see someone very badly dressed and then I can't help myself:P;) Nobody's perfect:)

This post was about the artwork one man created. I don't recall the orginal poster bringing anything else into it, but just that. You might want to take your above post to the Speakers Corner, and then I might be willing to discuss your remarks further with you. ;)

Was really responding to the references that he is "sick", etc. and commenting I'm thankful I don't have to judge whether he is or not.

I'm sure the greenies will delete my post if there's an issue.;)

Edited to make comment on the artwork:

I wasn't impressed, and not b/c of the alternative nature of it. I didn't see much of anything original, though the images do well to express the titles they are given. One could paint a flower rising up in-between the tall weeds reaching for the sky and call it Nearer My Sun to Thee. It's just not very thought provoking to me.
