4WayXena 0 #1 September 22, 2005 Me and the gf were smart and got on the road early yesterday afternoon. It took us 4 hours to get from Clear Lake to Tomball - Sheesh! We topped off last night just in case it got wierd for gas and now there's none to be had. Ice is scarce but it can still be had/\. Tell us where you've run to
Rebecca 0 #2 September 22, 2005 We were in no way prepared to leave yesterday. I didn't even leave work until 5, along with most everyone else at my office. By that time, it was too late - gas was ridiculously scarce and all highways were already gridlocked. I did find gas this morning around the corner of all places. However, based on reports from people on the road, 1+ million people are going nowhere - I even heard Seguin had closed I-10 WEST! That's not confirmed though (second-hand.) Basically, I'm not in a hurry to go jump into a stand-still during a heat wave, surrounded by other tired, scared, nervous motorists... you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? Rebecca 0 #4 September 22, 2005 QuoteMy thoughts are with you, my friend. Thank you. Things are changing by the minute. Rita's a Cat 4 now, heading a bit more north. There's a chance it will reintensify when it hits a pocket of deep hot water, but landfall's been delayed a bit, which gives that cold front up north a chance to move closer... We have friends to bunk with in a brick apartment, and access to another place. I'm also hoping the DOT gets things flowing so that escape becomes a realistic option. It sure isn't right now... It's all "wait-n-see" right now. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

Beerlight 0 #7 September 22, 2005 NASA released us early yesterday morning, I went home, loaded a few last minute items and left at 9 am. Took a westerly heading, making my way up to Alvin, right by Spaceland (runway looks nice) and over to Hwy. 36..... When i finally got to IH-10 (heading to Austin), it was gridlocked for about an hour. Finally got to Austin around 3 pm.... Not bad, cause today i hear it's taking 14 hours to get to Austin versus the normal 4....!!!! My buddy flew his Beech Baron into Austin, so if anyone needs an emergency lift or something, e-mail me and we can work something out...... He flew it from Houston-Southwest airport, made it to Austin in freakin 35 minutes! Buck
