CanuckInUSA 0 #1 September 23, 2005 In three weeks I will be all packed up and moving back to my native Canada (Vancouver BC here I come). I'm currently going through a bunch of stuff trying to determine what I'm going to keep and what I need to give away. Ideally I would have a garage sale, but I don't have that much to give away and I'd rather spend the few weekends I have left jumping at the DZ (or jumping at the Moab boogie). So I'm going to have a few things at the DZ (Mile Hi) this weekend to give away free of charge. I may add to this but so far here is the list of things I'm looking to give away: - One set of golf clubs. - One artificial Christmas Tree with ornaments and lights. - One Sony double audio cassette player. - One small bedroom humidifier. - One small cooler. - One set of small computer speakers. - One Sidewinder computer joystick (with driver CD). - "Dances with Wolves" VHS tape. - "Terminator 2" VHS tape. - "Total Recall" VHS tape. - "Predator" VHS tape. - "Memphis Belle" VHS tape. - "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" VHS tape. This is all I can think of right now, but I may find more stuff as I sift through my shit preparing for this move. You local Colorado (Mile Hi) peeps will actually be doing me a favor by taking some of this stuff off of my hands. The less possessions I have will mean the less weight I need to pay for with the movers and the smaller place I will need to live in. So if any of this stuff interests you (free of charge), drop me a PM and I'll try and reserve it for you. Otherwise I'll just give it as a first come first serve basis. Even though I'm still injured from my rear riser stall crash last week, I should be at the DZ this Saturday and Sunday. Steve ... RkyMtnHigh 0 #2 September 23, 2005 Wow..so you're really heading back, eh? How often will you get to come back to visit? Do you have a job up there yet? All the best on your journey "home", Steve. _________________________________________
flyangel2 2 #3 September 23, 2005 Wow, I can't believe you really are leaving. This makes me so sadMay your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
gravitysucks 0 #4 September 23, 2005 Hate to interrupt your thread, but I am doing a reverse-canuck (sort of,) and making the move to the Longmont area in 4 or 5 months. If anyone has housing suggestions (good areas, good apartments, etc..) or work suggestions (good website to search aside from the post??) I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! CanuckInUSA 0 #5 September 23, 2005 QuoteWow..so you're really heading back, eh? With only three weeks left on my B-2 visitors visa a virtually no job leads, I've got no choice if I don't want to risk a permanent ban. My sorry ass will be on the other side of the border come October 17th. Of course I knew the INS rules before I came here, so I can't cry over them wanting me to leave the country. It's their rules, not mine. It sucks to have to spend thousands of dollars moving, but Vancouver is a nice city ... I think. QuoteHow often will you get to come back to visit? A lot will depend on my finances. I do hope to compete at the Ground Launching Championships in CA this November (I've already talked to Jim S about it). If I can wing it I'd like to compete at the SkyQuest swoop comp in FL a week or so after that (I've already talked to Chris H about this), there's always the Turkey Boogie in Moab over Thanksgiving, I hope to be at the Eloy Holiday Boogie (I've spent my last 3 Christmas's there) and of course it would be nice to visit Mile Hi next summer to compete in a CPC swoop comp or two over the pond. As I said, a lot will depend on my finances. QuoteDo you have a job up there yet? Nope ... I can't get a Denver recruiter to call me let alone a Canadian recruiter. I doubt I'll be working anytime soon ... maybe come January if I'm lucky. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
RkyMtnHigh 0 #6 September 23, 2005 Be sure to let me know when you're in Florida for the swoop comp! I'd love to see you again and give ya a big HUG! _________________________________________

CanuckInUSA 0 #10 September 23, 2005 You know marriage would help me stay in the long term, but I would still need to leave by Oct 17th. Plus I've always told myself that I would never want to marry someone for the sake of a Green Card. The jumping may be better in the USA, but contrary to what some people think, life in Canada isn't all that bad. You know Kelly could marry me and move to Vancouver with me. CanuckInUSA 0 #12 September 23, 2005 If I can wing it from a finacial point of view, I would love to compete in one of your Georgia/Florida CPC comps next year. Remember this move to Vancouver isn't the worst thing to happen to my short competitive swooping career (especially if a Western Canadian CPC region was to start up next year). To date all I know is swooping at altitude. Swooping at sea level (at least for a short time) might be good for me. Well, this is what I keep telling myself. I will miss Mile Hi's new pond though. I did the "I'll marry you so you can get a green card and stay here thing" back in 1989. We stayed married for 8+ yrs and I got dual citizenship as well but you're right, but we were young and stupid back then. _________________________________________
CanuckInUSA 0 #14 September 23, 2005 QuoteCan I have extra-marital affairs? 'Cause you might be onto something there. What if I treated you so well that you wouldn't want any extra-marital affairs. Ah who am I kidding, I'd be running off to different swoop comps (having my own affairs) and you'd be force into having sex with some other bloke. QuoteMaybe some day we can actually meet and do a jump or something I do have ties to Calgary (I still own a house in Edgemont and have whuffo friends and siblings living there) and I totally want to get in touch with the Cooper bros. to see if they'll take me to some of the cliffs they've been jumping in Alberta.
