Would you pay over $400 to see a concert?

Recommended Posts

Rolling Stones tix are about $425 each to be on the floor in Florida.

Is anyone worth that much to see? If so, who?

Fuck no... No one is worth that much, or they're pompous assholes to charge that much. Sorry for the attitude, but $50 is about as much as I would pay, I don't care who it is.

I wont.

If I want to see something, I try to beat the dealers when they go on sale. If I can't manage that then I just don't go. No show is worth that much.

I was priced out of the concert market years ago...

1st Pink Floyd - $5
1st Led Zeppelin - $10
1st Jimi Hendrix - $7
1st Black Sabbath - $3
1st Deep Purple - $12
(included ZZ Topp)

Most paid: $25 George Harrison, Atlanta, GA
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

I saw that and thought: thats 11 jumps plus two red bulls at my DZ.
I like music and all, but I lost the drive to have to pay outragous prices years back.[:/]

The Stones are a particularly bad one to pay that kind of money given that anyone who would be willing to pay that should have already seen their show a dozen times by now.

Less than 10 years ago most venues sold all tickets at the same price, all anyone with connections got the better tix to sell to scalpers. Now I guess you still pay the same amount for top seats, but the venue collects it instead of the ticket agencies.

Sure, if Maggie Cheung is playing the skin flute (mine). Crass, I know....but so is a 425$ for a concert.

FWIW, I saw Maggie Cheung at the Toronto Film Festival when she was promoting IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and everybody was astonished (males and females) by how she was even more beautiful in person than she was in that movie.

p.s. Add Michelle Reis to that list (see avatar) duh.

Finally, the Stones of Today are NOT the Stones of old. nough said...

I would love to see the Stones in concert. To date the best show I've seen was Pink Floyd back in '95 at an outdoor venue. But $400+ is too steep for my blood. I'd much rather spend that sort of money on jumps. But that's just me. :)

When the Stones: 'Bridges to Babylon' tour came to Texas, my wife surprised me with tickets. $150.00 each. That included a bus ride to Ft. Worth, beer (all one could drink) and lunch. Not to mention all the pot smoke one could inhale during the bus ride! :) I could never afford concert tickets before that. I had waited about 30+ years to see them!

If there's a circle in Hell for two-or-more-decades-past-their-prime rock stars whose dead souls have been replaced with a bloated, oozing blob of their own self importance, whose voices are forever impaired by choking on the bile of their own egos, they will probably be forever doused in flaming pig shit by demons wearing $35 concert t-shirts.

Right next to the stall containing the Eagles, of course.

I wanna see the Cream reunion soooo bad, but to pay for it I'd have to first have a baby, then sell it on the black market.

I saw Cream in 1967 and the Stones in Chicago in September 2005.

I paid $110 for the Stones and it was well worth it..

Can't think of anyone I would pay that much to see... but then it would be pretty hard to get me to go to any big concert now even if it was free - did plenty of that when I was younger, and I don't like the big crowds anymore.

Geez, I sound like an old fart.... :|
